Well if Ming is drafted by a team he doesn't like, then he could just sit out and demand a trade. Hmm...that sounds familiar.
Some probably came there on the Casino buses that leave from the Bellaire @ Wilcrest departure point. posted by kidrock8 Bellaire Blvd from Gessner to the Beltway, has a huge influx of Chinese people and businesses. Extend it out at least until Synott. Mango
hey, did you read what else I found while researching stuff like the CIA fact book. Ming not Accepted: No Ming for You
And start it at Fondren, not Bellaire, move south to Beechnut, and north to about Harwin. That should just about cover it, give or take a few minor streets/centers.
Crispee, I think this thread has digressed enough & is ready for a little Chickity China the Chinese Chicken, don't you?
Yao Ming should get a house in Sugarland. He's an NBA baller now. (assuming that he makes it and all.) I'd like to see his stock fall and the Utah Jazz pick him up. Houston has a big Asian American Community. It would work. They should fix up China Town though. I saw a Mexican Resturant in China Town. It was Villa Tacos or something like that over by Long Sing Store, and Cau Tau Restaurant or something.
I didn't know there were so many vietnamese people in Houston, being that I'm from LA. It just makes me even more happy knowing that I'm not the only vietnamese fan of the rockets too! (just maybe the only on in LA). In my opinion though I think vietnam was once a part of China or that most of the vietnamese originated from China. That saying my parents were from China but moved to vietnam then to the US so I consider myself half vietnamese and Chinese. Anyways I would love for the Rockets to get Ming and I think that all asians would be cheering for Ming regardless of nationality. Go Rockets! (that is keep on loosing so we get Ming yeah!)

heh viper.. i got all of those tracks houston is still kinda backwards bout the way "minorities" clash and it's pc/racial tensions - stemming from a young age in middle school. but i guess marketability was the prime concern and not whether or not ming would be attacked ethnically there is one big thing about houston getting ming... and that is... when basketball really opened up in china (and i can attest to this since i was living there at the time)... broadcast more... (players were always there)... the first thing they saw was Olajuwon and his championship rockets. while the japanese loved malone/stockton and their mastery of fundamentals ... the chinese loved how the rockets made people look bad, but at the same time had a humble squad w/o the flair of stars - all behind that one titan of skill (and not brute force or brute athleticism) in Olajuwon. too bad olajuwon ain't around anymore though
This thread makes me want to vomit. Yao Ming makes me want to vomit. If the Rockets drafted Ming, Steve Francis would probably want to vomit, too. In fact, the collective vomit of all Rockets fans would force the city of Houston into a National State of Emergency. The idea of a freakish, cocky, International center is about the worst thing I have ever heard. The only plus of having Ming would be that he could perform for The Ringling Brothers in the off season.
Queso...why would Steve Francis, or any Rockets fan, vomit if Ming was drafted by the Rockets. This guy has a chance to be a great C in this league...do you really think Steve would prefer Cato over Ming? Ming is 7'5, and it's a lot easier to throw alley-oops to him than Cato's 7'0. And where do you get the idea that he is freakish, and cocky? Does the fact that he is so tall and so good make him freakish? If so, than it's a good thing. Also, can we please stop talking about vomiting...i think I'm going to be sick.
How come I get this strange feeling that Queso has never seen Ming play a single game? I'd suggest that you read up on trying to learn more about something before passing judgement on it. For a book right about on your level, I'd suggest Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham.
hmmm, someone sounds like a....RACIST!! Stop asian-hating and accept him for what he is, a good basketball player
