The fact the events actually happened and are being reported has nothing to do with it being an actual increase in such events. I have a feeling if a high schooler writes some racial slur on a wall these days it will be on the 5 o'clock news.
imho 1. There are many racists and many more prejudiced people. 2. Racists are going to respond the way you expect them to respond- racist. 3. They are not going to enter God's kingdom unless they repent. (they are hateful) This is expected from the racists, so let's monitor it and be vigilant and prepared. Let's trust that his security is very aware of the obvious implications of race and racism. Racists come in all ethnicities.
If the Southern Poverty Law Center is collecting police reports (probable), our eagerness to report racism in the news is irrelevant. However, it is possible that increased media exposure will attune victims more accutely to racist behavior and make them incrementally more likely to report a racist incident to the police (though I honestly wouldn't think the impact would be large). Anyway, this thread feels like a fleet of ships passing one another in the night.
