... Steve and Cuttino played 41 and 43 mins respectively in a game that was so lopsided? I didn't watch the game, but can anyone who did tell me why? I've never liked the idea of tanking the season, but playing your 2 best players that kind of minutes that late in the season for such a lopsided (may I add "meaningless"?) game doesn't sound reasonable to me.
hey in street ball . . .if you down 11 to 2.. . .and you going to 15 you don't just leave the court Rocket River
Uh.... What Rocket River/The Freak said. The analogy is that you don't want to foster a losing atmosphere, in street ball or anywhere else. What if whoever the Rockets pick/trade for with their pick turns out to be a dud? Tank again? Steve and Cat are both young players in need of experience and Rudy gave it to them. It doesn't matter if you lose by thirty. You still have to focus on playing up to your level and getting better. (p.s. I don't know if you've seen the candidates but I think this is going to be one of the weakest drafts in recent memory--a lot of the 'best' players won't even be coming out [e.g. dunleavy, jeffries probably])
...and what if the 5th pick ends up being a hall of famer? You just never know. Hell, the 18th pick may turn out to be the best player in the draft...HOWEVER, I'll take my chances with a higher pick and I trust that if/when it comes down to a late season big game in the future, that Steve and Cat are ready. (PS..if you think Jeffries and Dunleavy are 2 of the 'best' players, then I'm not sure that you've seen the candidates...youve ben readibng nbadraft.net too much)
Actually I have posted that I think both Jeffries and Dunleavy are overrated (and believe me, I have seen a WHOLE LOT of Dunleavy), which means that many of the other top players are just plain bad/too undeveloped (right now I have people like Gooden in mind--I don't think there's any position he can play well in the pros and he's more or less a top 5 lock). But how knows, maybe this Qyntel Woods person is great. Jason Williams will be okay--a poor man's baron davis. Yao Ming? Maybe. Wilcox will be a stronger Rasheed Wallace, but he might not be coming out.
hey, you read it however you want. seriously, NJRocket was suggesting that I haven't seen draft eligibles play. I have seen Dunleavy play at least 20 times, and many other ACC eligibles that much or more. In the tourney I also had the chance to see most other potential lottery picks, none of whom impressed me that much, except maybe Caron Butler (though even he has his limitations).
Why I ask why ... is it so hard to understand that guys like Collier, TMo, DL and Griffin are not going to develop without playing with the playmakers. you want proof that other lottery bound NBA coaches think this way regarding using playmakers to develop younger players:

Jalen Rose played 41 minutes in a 16 point loss to Denver, two games ago.
Shareef has played 40, 43, 44 minutes in last 3 games and Jason Terry isn't letting up.
Andre Miller played 48 minutes last night, and 38 in a 21 pt blowout to Utah a week ago.
Latrell Sprewell had 47 minutes twice in the last 3 games
Jason Williams played 48 minutes in a tank game against GSW and 43 minutes in a 11 point loss to Minnesota last night.
Antonio McDyess had 22 minutes (oops, there's your proof)
Ahhhhh, now I get it. You want to be a Nuggets fan--a team that knows how to tank like a man.
