You mean like how people only look at shooting stats and come up with the conclusion that Rafer is the worst starting PG in the league?
You can't possibly argue that we are better off with Rafer starting and Brooks coming off the bench for his offense. Seriously. What good is Rafer coming off the bench? He would have to take more shots with most of our Big 3 on the bench. We are way better off as Brooks coming off the bench to give us POINTS. We want AB to shoot, not defer to T-Mac, Yao, and Artest. That's not going to happen if he's starting.

I agree with DPballer. Brooks is a scorer. He's not a PG. We need his instant offense off the bench when the starting offense gets stagnant. He's not playing to his full potential if he isn't looking to score every play. He has made some great plays this season, but not consistently enough to be a playmaker.

We need Brooks to be fearless and attack the basket at will. Get blocked by Tim Duncan? Oh well. Keep trying. At least he was being aggressive. He'll get better at controlling himself once he gets down into the paint and if he works on that floater a little bit, we'll have a nearly unstoppable offensive option off the bench. This team could use that.

No. I think we are saying difreret things. My point is that you can not criticize Yao on boards in this case. Yao did get poor 6 boards. But scola got 10 and T-mac got 9, and the Rockets won boards at 41-35.
You need to understand that rebounding is a teamwork. You can grab boards by yourself. You also can help your teanmates get the boards. D-howard is the best rebounder in the league. But many people said he just grabbed the board of his teammates because his team was usually defeated by other teams on boards.
The rebounding of the Rockets did decline in the new season and Yao does need to improve his rebounding. I think rebounding is more important than scoring for him. But you still can not reproach him in this game because everyone did good job.

yao is a good post defender...(even ask jeff van gundy hes a defensive minded coach too) its hard to post up and score over yao because he is so big and tall, but the problem is centers face up yao beat yao off the dribble. only shaq trys to post up on yao.

remember yao is not 100%, mcgrady is not 100%, battier is out. but the rockets are still a top team in the west.

and you guys are idiots if you think yao don't make an impact on the defensive end, even if he doesn't get any blocks, a lot of time Yao changes a lot of shots inside even if he doesn't block it.

the problem with the houston's defense is on the perimeter D. and transition D. that will help when battier comes back, mcgrady right now cannot stop anyone from driving in, and artest is a good physical defender but seems to play his man too tight sometimes and get beat off the dribble a lot. which results to Yao coming over to cover for their man. yao's man becomes unguarded and gets a rebound if the shot is miss and dunks/lays it in.

right now the best perimeter defender from our starting unit is rafer alston.

I have to tell you it is impossible to get the boards consistently. Ask you again, do you know how many boards did TC get yesterday and how many boards did Duncan get the day before yesterday? Answer me please!
I also remind you Yao's boards averaged 9.3 in the new season, 10.8 last season and 9.4 two years ago. I hope he can rise his boards to 10+ though his mins will be reduced for the reason we all know.

I don't know if Dennis Rodman stole rebounds from his teammates. But I know T-Mac's rebounds will be "stolen" if Yao were D-Howard, and you T-Mac lovers will be crying ;) ;) ;)

He played pretty well, except vs Spurs, his appetite of offensing the basket is too more,he need to control, when he is come off the bench,I dont care what he do,assist, shot, all doesnt matter, but when is start,he should let Yao Tmac and Ron do.Those are why I prefer Brooks as a bencher.
You are right,he is not a PG,instead he is a SG.
