I thought that Battier was supposed to be back for the New Orleans game? Does anybody have any idea when's he due back?
I'd give it another few games at least. From what I hear he is walking and running pretty normally but not going all-out in terms of training and practice yet. Once he's had a few solid practices without abnormal swelling or pain in the foot he'll probably be back in limited minutes until he gets back in game shape.
Well, that's good. A few games isn't bad assuming the team keeps winning. But, I can see how important Hayes is!!! Man that stiffling defense last night against the Hornets was awsome to watch. When the offense isn't clicking, putting in a defense oriented rotation is the best thing. Battier can definitely keep the defensive intensity.
Bill or Bull (can't remember which) said another 2-4 weeks. He hasn't even been in team practice yet.
shane because steve wont play, and shane has been playing at least, steve is just starting practice again this week..steve will only see minutes if rafer is injured or something
dont want to seem like a complainer but before the season started i didnt think it was as bad as it is. They made it seem like it wont take that long at all, and that he will be back. I wont be surprised if by christmas they are still saying oh it wont be long now
Of course Shane, wheater Francis will come back or not is still a mistery, but Shane will come soon, that is no wonder..
this seems like an eternity for an ankle. what the hell happened? if this was tracy, he'd be killed. i really hope he recovers fast when he does return.
I'm starting to really question the Rockets medical staff. What's up with players in Houston and not feeling as great. Remember when Tracy went to the doctor in phoenix or to the doctor in waco and he felt all better. How come players never say that about our doctors?
I can't wait for Battier to get back. This team needs to gel, and they need him there for the team to be whole when it does. Can't wait for Artest and Brooks to come off the bench to enlarge a lead. The Rockets first team last year had no problems getting one, it was just the second team losing it for them that killed games. This year, well... both teams are gonna be painful for the other team
I heard initially Battier will miss the preseason games only (or perhaps even 1 or 2 early season games) .. now 10 games into the season, he is still not playing. I hope he can be in game soon.
This is an interesting question, and I have been thinking about it as well. Here is my theory. Players do not trust the organizations doctors because they feel they are only looking out for the team, and not the individual. So, when they go to a doctor outside the organization and he tells them everything is ok, they are more inclined to believe it. At least that is what I think happens. DD
We must have patience, even though I would like him to be back quickly! His problem is going to take time as he must not rush anything, even though he is still relatively a young man, he must adapt to the stress of action and reaction very slowly and gently. Last time he just did his normal recovery and discovered that rushing back caused a reaction to the stress and the foot proceeded to swell. We need a fit Battier who can play every game when he is ready.Hopefully he wil be back before the end of the year!
