We are probably in much shape right now. I thought I hated his offense until the start of this season. It is painful to watch Yao daydreaming in the 4th quarter while Tmac kills our offense motion completely by not using the pick, dribbling in front of two defender and jacking up a hopeless jumper when the clock runs late. And all RA does is well....wait till the game is completely out of control, and draw a hopeless offense plan that never even freaking worked once! Somehow I miss JVG's screaming along the sideline, and his hard nose attitude that would never allow his two primary scorers humiliate themselves like this, plus he'd probably kill himself if our D was like what this team offers now. And sometimes I wonder if the real reason that RA never got a ring is because he is just too nice as a coach...

So much for the rant. A more interesting topic is how would JVG handle this team. How would he modify his offense to incorporate RonRon, Scola and AB. Share your opinions of JVG's version of this team----and please don't bother with the "he would never play Scola/Landry/AB, and we would never get RonRon", I know that already. Thanks!

If Yao and TMAC are still on the team, no one can get anything out of them other than embarassing losses.

All I know is that at least JVG showed some emotion. Adelman waits until the game is almost out of hand before he'll call a timeout.

We would run the same two plays over again. A) Dump it to Yao and stand around B) Give it to T-Mac and run him over a pick C) Give it to T-Mac and stand around

We would also have -20 fastbreak points

We would be running PnR all day, be living dying by the 3. and Still beating every other team because no one would score more than 70 on us....

(This is assuming that because we have JVG, Deke would have already be signed, Dorsey would be on his way to being a defensive fiend, Brooks would know how to guard a PnR, and JVG would have made a deal with Satan to make sure Battier was healthy by the start of the season.)

Under JVG, Yao would play strong posts and be a beast. I miss how he was playing as a beast

Never seen this kind of play after RA took in charge

    So bad

We would be starting threads about firing JVG on a daily basis...

In short, the cycle of GARM life. JVG sucks, fire JVG, JVG fired, Adelman hired, Adelman rocks, Adelman sucks, Fire Adelman, Adelman fired, JVG hired, JVG sucks, fire JVG, JVG fired...

Part of Adelman's style is letting the players figure things out themselves.

I see the exact same complaints last year at the start of the season....

You joined here in 07... Here's what you missed 6 years before:

Rudy sucks, Rudy can't coach, Fire Rudy, Hire Phil, JVG sucks...

JVG atleast did his homework by preparing many magic cards before each game. What RA does now is let the players to decide what to do and draw some plans that have never so far worked and doom not working because they have never been practiced in training sessions.

Really? It must be exciting as us Rockets fan can share our success we had under him.

I suggest you reading a thread that has a poster meeting the Rockets team. He had a tidbit on Jack S. on watching the Spurs game and writing down notes.

And you really think they run plays that they never practiced? Rick is an NBA coach, no matter who you are, you practice plays before using them. Even I. Thomas did.

JVG did his homework, but he doesn't change. That is why a rookie coach (at that time) outcoached him and that is why JVG lost Game 7 by 40 freaking points.

Now, I don't agree with everything Rick does. I don't like how he doesn't get into Tracy's face, like Pop did with Manu right before Tracy made 13 points in 33 seconds. BUT I will never forget what Jeff brought. Stupid disciplinary rules that cost us games, developing rookies, (which could have been Vassilis Sp.) and even Brandon Roy... if you remember that one Denver game that we should have tanked and rested our players.

Ya. Jeff Van Gundy brought us great exciting things about our future. You know, the rookies he brought in. The ones that he developed.

Or maybe you are talking about Rick's ability to suddenly make Yao and Tracy play like crap, which apparently had no connection with themselves sucking.

One thing is for sure, under JVG, Yao is going to be protected on defensive end and those consistent selfish plays won't be allowed.
