Maybe its Adelman that is the square peg. You are right, Yao will never be a good high post center. Those guys have to be able to shoot, pass or drive. As much touch as he has, Yao has not been able to shoot the outside shot at all in the NBA. He isnt going to drive past anyone. So basically his defender doesnt crowd up on him. He sits back in the lane and clogs the middle. Thats why constantly giving Yao the ball at the free throw line makes no sense. Yet every game half if not more or Yao's touches are nowhere near the post. Or like tonight when for pretty much the entire third quarter he was an after thought on offense. So yes, you can say Yao doesnt fit Adelmans offense. But I ask why did we bring Adelman in in the first place when you knew this was going to happen. I think we all know Yao means more to the Rox then Adelman does. I dont get why you bring in a coach who system is a complete mismatch for your best player. It would be like bringing D'Antoni in to coach the Rox. Similar to what is going on in Phoenix. As much as Nash tried to say the right things during his interview on ESPN during the Rox game, you could tell he hates not having a run and gun offense anymore cuz he knows it negates his best skills.
