Some of these clips make sense. I know that if a player is posting up. You can't automatically double team them unless the player you are originally gaurding is in the general area. I just wanted to share and hear what you guys had to say.

Illegal defense doesn't exist anymore. Instead there is a defensive 3 seconds.

Dude I knew fouls weren't called, but what the hell this is Amazing and the worst part is when they call that small offensive foul on Kobe, Especially those damn screens by Garnett how the hell does this happen. Why do they get away with so many illegal defenses?

This really frustrates me, just gives me more reason to hate sports, I love rooting for my team and watching games, but its as if everyone is getting away with everything. Do we really need a ref on every corner, or maybe replays.

All of these "illegal defense" claims are stupid. As long as a defender is not in the paint for more than 3 seconds without an offensive player at arm's length, he can be wherever the hell he wants. All the video is showing is double/triple teaming and help defense. Big deal.

The refs barely called any handcheck, even both hand check was illegal in MJ's era. There's no illegal defense any more. But the video proved it's much harder to beat a team by yourself than MJ's era, coz' you won't get ISO like MJ did.

I'm not commenting on any other parts of the video (because I haven't watched them yet) but the opening section about the "illegal defense" shows nothing that is against today's rules.

Sorry for the DP. I really am, I could care less about post count.

Jordan made teams pay for double teams. Kobe couldn't make Boston pay for triple teaming. One highlight shows Kobe jack up a shot over 4 defenders. First of all, teams knew you couldn’t attempt to put 3 or 4 defenders on MJ because he capitalized and made them pay for it. Second, even if Kobe gets the foul when he is quadruple teamed, his teammates are just gonna stand around and do nothing because Kobe thinks he can do it all by himself. Third, MJ made every help defender pay before they were within reach of him. Kobe's teammates would cut more, and make more shots if he didn't keep jacking up shots over double, triple, and quadruple teams.

This fan is an idiot. "Advanced defense"? That is Kobe defense.

Wow this video is truly amazing.

I've never heard the voice of a man who wanted to have sex with Kobe Bryant more than this guy here. I mean, he truly, deep in his heart has extreme gay love for Kobe Bryant.

It's evident in the way that he presents this video. I don't know what soundtrack he's ripping off, but it certainly has that sad, clubbing-of-seals piano, doesn't it?

He spends the first 4 minutes babbling on and on, crying about zone defense. And I mean that literally - his whining voice sounds just short of tears.

It's also amazing that he can pronounce the word "blatent" without using any t's.

"Kobe just didn't have the luxury of playing one-on-one and posting up against smaller players like MJ did...." Is this guy serious?

"Watered down era" "Advanced defenses", LOL, are you serious??

How good would MJ have been with the perimeter D (or lack thereof) that they allow you to play in today's game?

On a different note: watch KG every time he sets a screen. His feel are almost never set and he moves nearly every time.

I could only watch about 3 and a half minutes of that crap. ugh.

I agree with the assessment that zone D makes it impossible for your star to be the man as far as scoring goes.

I don't agree with his whining and jabs at MJ's era. If the lakers would have played better team basketball they could have made that zone look stupid.

amazing someone took so much time to put that together without even having a basic grasp of what is and isn't legal defensively.

I've only watched a few minutes of it, but every single one of those defensive plays so far is doubling Kobe AFTER he has the ball. That is and always has been legal.

edit: watched it with sound this time and realized that the guy isn't complaining about illegal defenses, just that it's tough for Kobe to beat the zone. Misleading thread title.

I don't have sound here at work so I assumed he was claiming it was all against the rules. He does have "illegal defense" listed in his video, after all.

The NBA finals are physical? -gasp-

Defense and TEAMS win championships.....Refs should never control a game. Once it was established that they were going to let those calls go, the Lakers should have gone right ahead and played the same brand of basketball, but they couldn't.

The guy in the video said that the Bench can not try to distract a shooter on the wing...Teams been doing that since the beginning of the NBA. I guess fans have to be quiet too? lol what a tool.

I had to stop watching at the 2:00 mark. It's quite clear this guy doesn't know what illegial defense is. In all of the clips (up until I stopped watching), I see Kobe get doubled after he get's the rock, or the Celtics converging on Kobe once he tries to get into the paint. Um, what the hell is unique or illegial about that? I guess this dude never saw a Jazz/Rockets series, or see how Yao is defended. Hell, how Dream was defended. It's basic basketball....nothing illegial about it.

Now what I did see was Kobe trying to jack over 2-3 dudes when some of his teammates were wide the hell open....although for 3 pointers.

And then he continues to rant about how MJ never faced a zone or always went against midget defenders. His video is on youtube, so I find it hard to believe he never saw this video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5auPSMaD3vE

And does he not know the Pistons created a zone defense specifically for Jordan? Idiot..........

I watched the video without any audio, I had no idea there was someone commentating on the plays.
