Are you questioning my fanhood? Barnes commited a flagrant foul that didn't get called. On a foul like that, a player would get a fine or a one-game suspension. The fact that Rafer went after him after the play, and then continued to go after Steve Nash, means he did more than Barnes. Barnes disappeared after his flagrant. I gave Barnes an extra game because of how the situation escalated. Rafer was actually trying to hit people and chase after them AFTER the play so that's why I gave him more than Barnes. I don't think it matters as much who started it, but who finishes it. Ask Ron Artest. And yes, I did watch the whole thing. I like that Rafer and Tracy showed some attitude. If I was the league though, I would have come down on everyone harder.
Rafer should be suspended one game only, not two. Barnes was the real culprit here and he should be suspended more. If you can suspended Nash for instigating the fight...why not suspend O'neal too?? Did you see him shove people??That's not peacemaking, that's instigate the fight more. My fine would be: Barnes - 2 or 3 games suspension Rafer - 1 game (for trying to retaliate) Nash - 1 game (for instigating w/ physical contact) O'neal - 1 game (for instigating w/ physical contact) Tmac - $25,000 (for instigating w/o physical contact)
Shaq saved everything by pushing everyone out of the way. If he wasn't there, this could have been a nasty brawl. We would have lost some of our key players for a large amount of games.
Shaq wasn't suspended, just fined: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-suns-rocketssuspensions&prov=ap&type=lgns NEW YORK (AP)—The NBA has suspended Steve Nash and Matt Barnes of Phoenix and Rafer Alston of Houston for their roles in a fight. Alston and Barnes were suspended for two games without pay and Nash for one. The league also fined Shaquille O’Neal $35,000 and Tracy McGrady $25,000 on Friday for their actions during the Rockets’ 94-82 win in Phoenix on Wednesday. Barnes knocked back Alston with his shoulder late in the third quarter, and Alston charged him. Nash ran in and was pushed back by McGrady, who was shoved down by O’Neal. Nash was cited for “escalating the altercation.” He and Barnes will miss Friday’s game at Sacramento, and Barnes will sit Sunday against Detroit. Alston will miss games Friday against San Antonio and Saturday against New Orleans. .
well, i think that's a fair call...i'm surprised t-mac and shaq didn't get a suspension. superstar bias?
Barnes didn't really do anything after that initial flagrant foul against Rafer. Rafer, on other hand, attacked Nash while he was being restrained. Totally uncalled for. A 2-game suspension is appropriate.
Maybe its time to worry more about the upcoming games rather than Shaq knocking the entire team out of his way. And yes, if an injury occurred to Yao when he fell I would have been livid. I'd rather have Tmac back in exchange for Shaq getting off. Spurs = easy win for us NO = not so sure.. Mike James may come out of hiding!
If thats the case then listen to what i have 2 say..... I agree with you on the part that Rafer continued but the thing is Barnes had no reason to do what he did all Rafer was doing was setting a pick for McGrady. Barnes out of nowhere just pushes Rafer out the way for no reason. That led to the scuffle. Nash comes out of nowhere and tries to attack Rafer thats when McGrady comes and defends his teammate and pushes Nash to the ground. Long story short Shaq clears everyone out the way which i thought was very funny. Ron Artest started the brawl in Detroit which led to him being suspended for the season. He started it and got the worst of it. Matt Barnes started it and should have gotten more than 2 games. Yes Rafer should have not gone after him but also there is no way they both should have had 2 games.
Call me crazy but i see T-Mac being our back-up with Head getting minutes. T-Mac can run the offense and set everyone up. Head will just have to play D on the other teams pgs
you were expecting equitable or fair rulings from $tern? welcome to the NBA where's the punishment for the incompetent officiating that initiated this mess
