D Wade is not a pg. All of those point gaurds are all stars that you named, and all of them could be in the hall of fame when it is set and done. Saying that, CP3 is a once in a decade pg. He is better then all of them and I think he is the third best player in the world today, 1. Kobe 2. The Chosen One 3. CP3 4. D. Wade 5. Alot of people I could put here
i think brooks could be a starter and i dont think his size would hurt him too much. he is about the size of paul, nash, ford, telfair etc... its only going to hurt him when matched up against a bigger PG who can post up... basically just Baron Davis and Deron Williams.
His defense really isn't all that bad... look at tonights game he had 4 rebounds two of them offensive surrounded by bigger players, a blocked shot off the backboard, and in another game this season he broke up an ally-oop play. He stays in front of the guy he is guarding most of the time or pushes the player in the right direction, and yes D-Williams will post him up but that is not a play that will happen over and over, pg's don't belong in the post because there whill always be bigger players to block their shots so i really wouldn't worry about something like that. Brooks is developing into a great player, will prolly never be a Chris Paul but why does he need to, he will be a consistant great scorer, he will continue to be a better passer, but he really just needs the other ppl to start knocking down the shot after the pass which they arn't doing.
I don't know if you ever saw when Brooks was in the game and someone like Jason Kidd or Baron Davis was on him. They immediately went to the post. Not only is Brooks usually shorter than any guy he would guard (gives the guy more room to shoot), but he's also usually weaker. The reason you never see Brooks on Davis or Kidd is because Adelman knows Brooks is a huge mismatch. This isn't really a debate. If Brooks was even an average defender, he'd be the starter. The dude averages 10 points a game on 45% shooting, and if he was as good a defender as Rafer was... there really wouldn't be a reason to play Rafer over Brooks.
You do realize the high standards you are giving Brooks right? We're talking about arguably the best PG in the NBA, easily one of the top players. This kid has been playing great and has surprised me wit his consistency in scoring. Why can't we just let him be AB?
Brooks at best can be something like 22 points and 7 assists. Chris paul's been averaging double double this season. Although, Brooks has the advantage in speed, he can't immitate Chris Paul's court vision.
Kidd did not post up Brooks at all when we played them in that 2nd game. Brooks was having his way in that game. I thought Brooks was pulled too fast in that Clippers game, he could have matched up against someone else other then Baron. Brooks is a good defender for his size, you make it out like the opposing PGs this year has had career highs in points against him. I'll take Brooks' defense over your exaggerated opinion.
You could be right maybe i didn't notice the immediate post up of Brooks but i never said it wouldn't happen or that it wasn't a mismatch, of course it is, but those players will get theirs no matter what, and i agree it would be stupid to play brooks against them for huge min. But even if he was a good defender he wouldn't start. That would be to many scorers on the court at one time, it already is with t-mac, yao, and Artest, you don't need another shoot first player on the court with them.
brooks wont ever start unless he turns into an all-star caliber player offensively. a lot of people are taking rafer's defense for granted. he's almost as important as Battier is defensively. he plays great fundamental defense and he's got long arms. theres a lot of times when other players have to help out brooks because he's getting backed down and then the whole defense has to rotate and adjust, but with rafer he can hold his own. ill give brooks credit though it looks like hes getting better defensively
Maybe I exaggerated a little in saying that he would get immediately posted up. He got 20 minutes against the Mavs. That doesn't sound like "he's the lead scorer off the bench" to me. Which suggests that he got less minutes because they didn't want him to guard Kidd. Against the Clippers with Baron? Not even 10 minutes, and when he did play Baron went off on him. But against the Lakers and Blazers he basically splits time with Alston. Well, good point. He should get 24 minutes a game at least unless we're playing the Jazz or Clippers or something. I still say he's a worse than average defender though against big PGs.
get some height, if cant, get some weight, if you have neither height and weight, you're prone to be blowed off on defence end.
What the hell does this guy intend to discuss with starting this thread. Discussing how foolish the GMs were to miss brooks and left him for us? [QUATE]Brooks is Brooks is Brooks so he can never become CP3.[QUATE] perfect answer.
Hmmm, Have you seen what Nate has been putting up? He had 24 points in a quarter the other day....... I know because he is on my fantasy team lol 8-8 from the field and 5-5 from 3 today............
