For those that had doubts, doubt no more. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/fb/nfl/1335189 Carr preparing to be a Texan By CARLTON THOMPSON Copyright 2002 Houston Chronicle Need more proof David Carr is going to be the Texans' first draft pick and that both sides are certain a contract agreement will be reached relatively easily? The Fresno State quarterback and his wife, Melody, are preparing to make an offer on a house here this week, and the couple, along with their 21-month-old son, Austin, has moved from California. Meanwhile, Mike Sullivan, Carr's agent, was back in Houston on Tuesday, continuing preliminary contract discussions with Texans general manager Charley Casserly and director of negotiations Dan Ferens. Sullivan also was in Houston last week for two days of talks. Carr, whose commitments will keep him on the road for most of the next two weeks, will be in Houston on April 18 to attend the National Quarterback Club Awards ceremony. Call 1-800-298-6343 for ticket information. Following the ceremony, Carr will travel to New York for the draft April 20, and fly back to Houston the same day with Texans owner Bob McNair to be formally introduced to the local media. By then, he should have a place to call home in his new hometown. The Texans will hold their first on-field practice session today at the team's training facility. The workout is closed to the public. Free agents Tom Ackerman and Allen Aldridge also will visit the team today. Ackerman, a six-year veteran guard/center, has spent his entire career in New Orleans. Aldridge, entering his ninth season, has spent the past four seasons in Detroit. The former University of Houston linebacker was drafted by Denver in the second round of the 1994 draft.
