[rquoter]Hamas claims contacts with Obama advisors are ongoing

Dr. Ahmad Yousef, a political adviser to the prime minister of the Hamas-led government, Ismail Haniyah, revealed Tuesday that prior to the US presidential elections, a secret meeting was held between senior officials from the Palestinian movement and President-elect Barack Obama's advisers in the Gaza Strip.

"We were in contact with a number of Obama's aides through the Internet, and later met with some of them in Gaza, but they advised us not to reveal this information as it may influence the elections or become manipulated by [Republican candidate John] McCain's campaign", Yousuf said in an interview with London-based Arabic-language newspaper Al-Hayat, published Tuesday.

According to Yousuf, Hamas' contact with Obama's advisors was ongoing, adding that he personally had friendly relations with a few of Obama's advisers whom he had met when he lived in the US. "Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh will draft a congratulatory letter to Obama for his victory in the elections," added Yousef.

"The policy Obama will instate in the Middle East will differ from that of his predecessor George W. Bush, although it is clear that the region and the Palestinian issue will not be at the top of his agenda," Yousef told Al-Hayat, "(Obama) will focus more on the economic crisis, Iraq and Afghanistan."[/rquoter]

for some context, here's a short history of Hamas (via PJM )
Hamas carried out its first suicide bombing in 1994, and is believed to have killed over 500 people and wounded thousands. Israel, the European Union, Canada — and the United States — officially boycott it and define it as a terrorist organization. Among its most famous attacks are the suicide bombings of:

    • the Dolphinarium Disco in Tel Aviv in June 2001, which killed 21
    • the Sbarro Restaurant in Jerusalem in August 2001, which killed 15
    • the Park Hotel in Netanya in March 2002, which killed 30
    • Jerusalem’s Egged bus no. 2 in August 2003, which killed 23

I think you are probably my favorite D&D poster, and, totally in a non homosexual way.

But seriously, the election is over, you really can't change people minds now, basso.

Why would you give the time of day to the vague claims of a group that's done all that?

You should really post a lot less, your quality is bound to go up.

This thread is another classic example of hypocrisy.

Someone posts something that isn't a butt kissing, feel good story about Obama and out come the snipers. Typical.

Wait, are you implying with your comical photograph that the President of the United State shouldn't be the biggest celebrity in the world?

    Telling.

C'mon Faos. Don't offer up that load. You mean to tell me, now that it is a negative claim on Obama, you and basso are ready to listen to what Hamas has to say? Really? That's a source you are looking to now? That's embarrassing.

    Talk about hypocrisy.

You can't do TJ better than TJ. Stop trying.

bash the poster, bash the source, but not a single comment on the ramifications of the story if proven true.

i don't remember any such reticence when discussing trig's parentage.

    telling.

Then you must be even dumber than what little credit we gave you - here's the thread on Trig's parentage (started by a notoriously awful right wing poster) You will note that the first 20 posts do exactly that.

This makes me question your parentage.

Has basso ever been right on the "I don't remember you guys ever doing X or Y" observation? This lends a lot of support to my hypothesis regarding your posting history.

Obviously if true there are some potential ramifications just like if I make a post saying that GW Bush is an alien from another planet has some huge ramifications if true but how much proof is there.

You post a story that seems far fetched to begin with and where the only proof is what the Hamas rep is saying. Is there any other evidence to support this and who were the aides to Obama that the Hamas rep is claiming to have met with?

Obviously the Obama campaign meeting with a terrorist group has ramifications but without more proof there isn't much sense in discussing it outside of debating a hypothetical.

Y'all don't ruin this for me, Dr. Yousef really thinks I am part of the Obama team and I'm really close to getting them to send me a boatload of money for "influence" with the administration.

    Good times.
