I was woken up this morning once again by the annoying bark of the yellow lab next door. I am not kidding when I say that dog barked non stop for 2 hours. I mean he woke me up at 7 and didnt stop until 9 when I left for work this morning.

At what point does a dog think: Hmmmmmm...... this barking thing is not only tiring, but not so effective.

    Lack of sleep blows!!

sucks doesn't it!? give that dog a bone... keep him occupied.

I have the same problem with my neighbor's dog. It barks setting off a chain reaction in the neighborhood... and of course, my dog starts barking, except my dog is in our room, lying on the floor!! Fortunately she shuts up after one or two barks... she just has to join in...

My question is what's with the chain reaction. Is it just to say, "hey I'm here too!"??

Dogs usually bark constantly like that if they're bored, don't have enough exercise, or don't get enough attention. Tell your neighbours to throw their dog a ball once in a while, or something.

    Your lucky in my opinion.

My neighbor has three dogs in her backyard. She never walks them or lets them go anywhere...their always just in the backyard. She rarely even goes outside to visit with them. I'm not sure why she even has them?

Anyway, those dogs bark from 10 pm to 7 am every single day. I'm lucky as I have a big backyard which separates her property from mine. The neighbors right next to her....I don't know how they deal with it(ear plugs?). They are very loud dogs and bark like 3 times a second.

Even still...I have to turn my air filter on high and sometimes turn my fan on cause I can still hear their barks. My ridgebacks never bark like that....their barking may start and stop in 1 minute. That is as long as they will ever bark. Of course, they've got it made cause they have such a cool owner who gives them lots of walks and attention :D.

My neighbors dont do **** for their 2 beautiful dogs. They just come outside (lazy UT college students), say: "Ruby...... shut up" , then go back inside again with beer in hand.

Here is a question: Why even have a dog, if all you are going to do is let it run outside in your backyard and bark all day?

I have 2 outdoor dogs & a few months ago the started going crazy every night at about 1 AM. About the 3rd night, I got pretty tired of this (I'm sure my neighbors did too) so I went outside w/ the maglight to figure out what the heck was going on. There, perched on the power lines running parallel to my back fence, was the biggest d@mn opossum I've ever seen. He was just sitting there staring at the dogs, taunting them from 15' up. So, out came the BB gun & I hit him a couple of times, thinking that he won't come back again. Wrong. Next freaking night he's back, and I am seriously not pleased. So, out comes the .22 (loaded w/ ratshot, not rimfires - I'm not an idiot); possum is dead, I, my dogs, and the City of West U. lived happily ever after.

What color was it? It may have been a Nutria. Which looks like a big nasty rat, but has teeth like a beaver.

    Look it up.....

Huh? Unless you're refering to someone else, I assume he's still searching for the "real killer" on some golf course in Florida.

Late one night, in Houston, I was sitting at a red light when this very large rat casually walked across the street in front of me. He crossed properly, with the traffic light, in the crosswalk. You know the rats are getting too comfortable when...

That possum was very likely terrified by the dogs and protecting her young, not taunting them. Possums are good for your yard, believe it or not. They contain the rat population and don't harm anyone particularly considering they are night creatures. If you have possums, rather than simply killing it, you could call a possum rescue and they would capture it and take it out to the country where it wouldn't harm you or bug your dogs.

    Jeff,

I’m having a small Fire ant problem in my back yard. I was going
to treat the mound tonight, but thought I should check with you
for any information on Fire ant rescue/relocation first. ;)

( btw, I would not shoot the possum :D )

I have this racoon (who Im sure is raising a family) living under my foundation (pier and beam). Its really annoying because it makes noise during all times of the night.

Know any good ways to get that sucker out of there?
