Ray Allen, KG and Truth surpassed expectations and quickly became the #1 team in the league while Houston struggles to stay above .500...why? Its because Ray Allen is one of the best in the business playing off ball, meaning the focal point of the Boston offense is around Pierce and KG. Artest, Tracy and Yao all demand the ball to be efficient and have difficulties adjusting to Adelman's offense. Now imagine if instead of Artest, Rip Hamilton was in a Rockets uniform. Do you think our play would have been better or worse than it already is? Of course I'm not giving up on the Rockets (its only been 7 games) but this is something I've been pondering for a while.

Even so, Boston's offense was only good not great. They were 10th in the league in offensive efficiency. They just had a defense that was miles above the rest (you know something the Rockets SHOULD have at least emulated this season).

For one, their big 3 complement each better.

Like you said, Allen is not only an elite shooter, he also moves constantly WITHOUT THE BALL.

Pierce handles the ball more and is a well-rounded player. He can shoot, penetrate, pass, rebound. McGrady does those things, too, but not consistently, esp. the penetration part.

Garnett is a multi-faceted PF. He can score, pass, defend... you name it, he can do it. Yao has glaring weaknesses and is slower than molasses.

The Celtics have an elite SG, SF and PF. They are three distinct types of players that don't get in each other's way.

Plus, they are all healthy as well as quicker and more athletic than our big 3, with the exception of Artest.

McGrady is more of a SF playing SG and so far hasn't really meshed with Artest. Their big 3 improve the team when they play together. So far, the opposite seems to be true for the Rockets.

Injured or not, McGrady is a statue on offense as opposed to Allen who never stops moving a la Hamilton and Reggie Miller.

Pierce and Garnett have the kind of passion to win we only wish McGrady and Yao had. They intimidate opponents. McGrady jokes around with them and Yao is still soft.

Maybe because their Big 3 is much better much better than our Brick 3 both as individual and as a collection.
KG was league MVP and is outstanding on both ends of the floor. Tofu ??
Pierce is one of the best at creating and finishing in the league. TJack ??
Allen is one of the league's best pure shooters. Artest is hard to compare, but he is one of the league's best two way players.

I think it is because Pierce is right now a much better player than T-Mac, so is KG to Yao and even Artest is a good player he doesn´t fill a need for our team as much as Allen fills for them.
Also Rondo is a good player, unseen because of his teammates but he is indeed a cappable PG. I would say our only advantage would be scola over perkins, as it was shown during the game.

I thin the rockets need to dispose one of T-Mac, Artest or Battier to get a good PG, or a great off the ball shooter-player.

If the rockets could go on Yao-Scola-T-Mac-Fernandez-Brooks that would be a team that can play very much like the C´s.

You don't need better individual players to have a great offensive flow.

The main reason why they won games early is because their assistant coach is Tom Thibodeau, while our assistant coach is... Sikma? Turner?

Not to mention they get to feast on East teams.

Sorry for double post, but I should also add that I imagine their Big 3 was much healthier 1 year ago than our Big 3 is currently.

Boston excelled against West teams, losing only 5 or so times I believe.

Durability is part of the game, and is part of a players value, if we want players that can be healthy for 82 games we know who we need to trade.

Just speaking the truth. If we had Battier along with a healthy T-Mac/Yao, we could very well be undefeated right now, despite whatever concerns of the offense desi tmac has.

And great defense will help you beat any team, but damn... I would kill to be in the East.

We could also very well be 0-7. The fact is we're 4-3 but looking at a downturn in record very soon.

Give them Rafer and let him play 40 minutes a night for Celtics, they could be worse than Rockets.

McGrady is coming back from an injury.

I don't think Yao is 100 % yet, despite what he says.

Artest is being asked to do more because of the problems with McGrady and Yao.

Our glue guy Battier is out.

I'm not saying that we're as good as Boston, but we need more time before we can pass judgement on this team.

    Great post

KG is so much better on defense compared to Yao.....
Yao has the potential to be a much more dominant scorer though....

EMULATED? Past tense? Since when is this season over? I drink a lot, but time doesn't go by THAT fast :)
