Garnett is getting away with things Artest or others couldn't get away with; not just talking about getting a T. If Artest pounds his chest he's crazy, if KG does it, it's just showing your emotions. Talk about double-standards..... Also, Garnett should've been T'd up for talking thrash to Landry at the game this year, don't know if anyone caught up but Garnett is definetly getting royalty type treatment. Ever since he's been a Celtic people worship him like a God. Just remember, the guy has been less than T-mac his whole career and now since he's been out of the 1st round (taken on wings by Cassell and partly Sprewell), and won a championship (mainly because of Pierce & Allen)he's one the best. Go figure P.S. I liked KG back when he was normal in his Twolve days but he has gotten really cocky over the years.
I absolutely agree but I would bet that if it was anyone other than KG doing that, a technical would have been caled. Talking trash is one thing, but physically taunting is suppose to be an automatic T (see Deke waving his finger at a player). I agree that Calderon did the right thing but the refs however turned their head when taunting call should have been made. Just imagine if Artest would have done that.
Wow, the NBA is so soft these days that its making fans soft also. I remember when the NBA had no taunting violations. I remember when flagrant fouls were just hard fouls. I agree. Blown out of proportion here. I don't like it, but far from a travesty and it was in the flow of the game (who knows what else transpired). But Kobe is the biggest whineyest douche to referees in the whole league. Someone brought up Duncan as a "model"--but we know he can be a douche to refs as well. So which is worse being a douche to players, or to refs? I'd say the refs is worse, because players are competing by the same rules.
It's been my perception that Artest doesn't respect KG's antics. I think there was a radio interview where he basically called out KG as a wannabe tough guy and all show. When the going gets tough, KG suddenly doesn't want confrontation.
And if Tmac does it he doesn't get a T and is praised for emotion. Yes there are different rules for the Artests, Sprees, Rodmans and Sheeds of the league (for various and different reasons) vs Tmac, KG, Duncan, etc.

trash talking is one thing everyone will talk on the court, but what kg did and does is just trying to show someone up and act like a tough guy. i hope dorsey goes off on the guy next time we play like just fouls him hard and see his reaction to dorsey who is still shorter than him but a whole lot stronger
Talking trash is fine. Hell Landry and Odom were doing plenty of yapping the other night. I like it too. But at the same time, you can't stick your finger in a guy's face while he's dribbling up the court, that's a bit much.
I like KG a lot. One of my favorite NBA players. I thought that was over the line. Respect the game. Just play. No need for that junk.

Yeah, my main problem is the inconsistency with how they decide what deserves a tech or not. It is absolutely true about what KG did vs. what Deke does. Deke does it towards the crowd, and IF the guy happens to be in that line of sight, he gets T'd up. Here KG is on the ball, doing that crap in his face...no T. That, my friends, is complete and utter bull****. I'm ok if you want to T Deke up, but keep that **** consistent across the board.

for those saying the nba/fans are soft... youre not getting the point. the point is to treat everyone fairly. if youre gonna T up some guy for talking smack, you should T up garnett for talking smack. how about last years playoffs, when kg got physical with a ref and he didnt even get fine/suspended or T'd up. yeah, royal treatment right there. if that was anyone else, they wouldve been kicked out of the game
