1080p TVs can get you 60 Hz frame rate. And I was talking about Fable. Still, God of War and Heavenly sword will make me forget Fable. I also bought Fallout for PS3 since it's a non exclusive, the point is that when choosing what system I wanted to buy between the two, I figure PS3 gives me the most options (and Blu-Ray was also a big part). I also don't know what "best console" means, the most played system I've owned could be a Nintendo DS (I enjoy platformers..). In terms of pure entertainment to me, there really isn't anything from XBox360 that jumps out enough for me to give up a BluRAy player when deciding between PS3 and XBox360.
I got my 360 back from RROD repair. It only took one week. Seems to be fine now. Hopefully, there is little chance of encountering a RROD again on a "fixed" 360. Anyone know if there is a chance of re-occurence? Or, it is pretty much good to go?
I had one repaired that went rrod on me again within a few days. They repaired it again and it worked for a couple of week - I sold it soon after that so I can't say long term how it held up.
ok so last week I got a RROD on my xbox I freaked out but reading online it say it could be an overheating issue. Its true the spot where my xbox is, isnt very well ventilated and my hd-dvd add on sits on top of the xbox. is there a better way to have the xbox, standing vertical or laying horizontal? after i got the rrod i didnt touch the xbox till later that night and it worked fine and has worked fine since. I guess i just had an issue of overheating. I am going to get any dust out of the fans that may have built up over the year. has anyone else had this where you've gotten the rrod and then it went away? i was playing a guitar hero when it happened and the screen just went gray and then it went rrod oh and i have the elite model not sure if there is any difference in terms of hardware (processors, board etc)
If your system RRODs, it is f**ked, it will only be a matter of time before it RRODs again. It's not if it will RROD again, it is WHEN it will RROD again.
The disk drive in mine is so freaking loud now i'm afraid it is about to break after just a few months of fairly limited use.
So I noticed, the latest price break has pushed the XBOX360 down to $199. I can get one from buy.com with 5% off. Here's the deal: I'm going to sell my Wii and get the XBOX since all I want to do is play Madden and NCAA -> both of which are ill fitted for the Wii. Do I need the version with the HDD or is the entry level "Arcade" version acceptable?

Anyone having a problem with their tray not opening? The button on my console won't open the tray, so I have to use the remote to open it. This started just a couple of days after I got it back from repair because it couldn't read XBox360 disks anymore. I don't want to send it back in for repair and wait a week for it to get back. I figure I'll wait until right before the new warranty expires and send it in if it doesn't have any more problems. That way I can extend my warranty for another year.
You need the harddrive. I need a bigger one, but thats because the Halo 3 maps take up most of the space I use, but the 20GB is big enough if you just want to save stats/seasons/franchises and what not.
so i had the RROD but a cf member here in LA was able to help me out, he knew a guy that would fix it for 40 bucks. Saved me the hassle of paying for the shipping and sending it in and then waiting to get it back. Was able to get it back right away. Haven't had any RROD since. basically from what I've read online its a total design flaw where the heat sink doesnt sit right with the GPU and causes over heating. All that needs to be done is change the framing of the heat sink and re-seat it so its sits flush with the gpu. but i had the standard 3 RROD not just one light up. i was told i would have to pay for shipping both ways but MS would fix it for free, but i wasnt given a time table as to how long. I figured it would be around 10-15 bucks at least each way to ship so 40 wasnt too bad of a price.
That's gold, Jerry! Gold! Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to buy the base model XBOX and get the HDD+controller from CC.
