    Hey Yall,

After many years of living with roommates, I'm ready to live by myself. I am looking at apartments in the galleria area and also by beltway8/I-10 Westchase. Safety is the number thing I am looking for and I am looking to spend 500-750 a month. I am not looking for a studio apartment.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure how you expect the board to help you with this. Go to craigslist, or just google Houston apartments, and choose a locator service.

My apartment search has gone as follows and it really helps:

    1. Go here: http://www.apartmentshoustonmovingrelocation.com/zipcode.jpg

And find a zip code you want to live in. For security and safety: 59/Hwy 6, Greenway, Museum District, 610/59 (inside the loop), Galleria are your best bets. You can try Heights too, friends live there and they like it.

    2. Then go to www.apartmentratings.com and do a search by that area code. It should bring up a list of apartments in said area code that are highest reviewed and you can start your search with those. A lot of people take into account crime, noise and price.

    3. When you find one you like, go to www.apartmentguide.com and get the full skinny on location, price, availability, and floor plans. You can search by City and you can usually type in the name that you saw at apartment ratings and it'll bring it up immediately.

Let me know if this helps.

A friend lived in an apartment just off Kirby (exit 59 and head towards Rice). There's a place on the right hand side just past McDonald's. It looks a little old from the outside, but the apartments seem to be ok. I understand it was pretty cheap, and they were two college-age girls that felt safe. Anyways, good luck!
