I know a lot of the rocket fans out there r hopin we get a chance 2 draft dunleavy if he comes out this year. well i have close connections w/ the dunleavy family so heres what ive heard from them so far. dunleavy is 50/50 on whether hes comin out this year. He wants 2 put his name on the list but hes afraid 2 tell this 2 coach k. IF he goes out he prob will not get an agent so that he is not commited if he doesnt get drafted as high as he expects. His dad is pushin him 2 come out of college and in2 the nba 4 numerous reasons. i just thought id update the fans on his status.
I think he should stay. Next year, he will be "the man" at Duke. Moreoever, money is not an issue for him and his family. Not to mention that next year, perhaps Dunleavy could leave Duke with 1 more NC title. I'm a big fan of Dunleavy, and could see why he'd want to come out, if he can be a Top 10 pick. If he blows up next year, and gets like 20 ppg, he could be a Top 3 guy.
Dunleavy COULD be a top 3 pick THIS year. From a career standpoint, he's crazy to wait. He could get injured, or something... I'd love it if he did. Either he or Wagner could be there at #6, where we'll probably pick. If he's there, I'd take him. If Wagner is there, I'd trade him to San Diego and get Odom. (of course, if we win the ping pong balls for #1 pick, I'd either take Ming or trade down for a pick or up and coming center, then trade for Odom). For the Rockets sake, it would be best if he came out. But I doubt that would be a factor in his consideration
If there's no Ming Dynasty, my pick is Dunleavy. Otherwise, I trade it because I think that this draft is puke. So, how was everyone's day???
I'm with Doc on this one (why shouldn't I be ). Dunleavy easily fills the Rockets need at SF, and Ming is a very intruiging player...other than that, there isn't much out there for the Rockets situation. We really don't want to wait on a guy like Woods to develop, plus neither Steve nor Cuttino wants to take a backseat to anyone at this point. The only other possibility IMO is Drew Gooden, but I certainly wouldn't take him with what our pick will be. Oh, and I think Dunleavy is staying anyway. Kidrock made some good points, and there's always the possibility that you could get hurt. But, it's not like he's an athletic leaper or post player that could blow out his knees or anything serious like that. He should stay, so he can be "the man".
no picks, telephone transcripts??? bahhh good info regardless mobes5...now go back out there a stalk like you've never stalked before...
great analysis. what about him do you not like, especially as a fit for the rockets? he makes smart decisions on the court and he can flat out shoot. for our 3, i'd only take odom(out of people who are probably available) over dunleavy.
Yes, because Langhi has superior ball skills such as passing and dribbling right? Dunleavy is better at this point in his career than Wally Z was. Wally never developed his dribbling skills until he got to Minnesota. Dunleavy already has a damn good handle for a 6 ft 9 player. Moreover, his passing skills are much better than Wally, who isn't much of a passer. Please EXPLAIN your logic. Just saying something out of your ass is one thing. Actually explaining why you feel the way you do is another. Out of the few posts I remember of yours, you always have an opinion that is pretty much baseless. In fact, I have more evidence that you are a crappy poster, than you do saying that Dunleavy is the next Langhi.
If you were to divide the number of players who come out of college and play in the NBA by the number of players who actually go on to a successful career, you would come to a conclusion that the probability of someone coming out of college becoming successful in the NBA is slim. Opinion is basically your only argument. Success in college doesn't necessarily equal success in the NBA.
Rockets have been scouting Dunleavy all season thanks to his daddy and the connections he has. Rockets want dunleavy very bad! People you just don't know the kind of missing piece he could bring to this team. Someone post a pic of Dunleavy in a rockets uniform work some magic lets see how it looks Seriously all bull aside Rockets want Dunleavy
You know, if you had just left this part off of your post, or worded it differently, I wouldn't be thinking of this post as crappy. There's no need for personal attacks to counter someone else's opinion. How about just asking him to explain why he feels that way, if you disagree?
Hottodie-I've asked the guy to justify his Dunleavy bashing many times before. Yet, he feels the need to not say anything. I don't care if he dislikes Dunleavy, just give a reason. I swear he uses half of his posts to bash Dunleavy.
So I guess this applies to EVERY other college kid who will be in the draft this year? So according to you, Jason Williams will not make it. Tell me who will make it. Surely, someone will... Your theory still doesn't prove to me that you know anything about Dunleavy.
I don't get how you can bash Mobley and/or other Rockets players, yet have nothing negative to say about Dunleavy.
I was just pointing out statistics and probability. I'm sure if you did the research, there have been top 10 picks to not have made it before. Perhaps even top 5
No knock on Dunleavy, I just cannot see why the team would go after him. Clearly our biggest need is at the 5. Folks, thinks POWER, think BULK, think SIZE, think LOW POST. Our pick has to add value where value is needed. Please understand we do not have a value need at the SF. We may not be back in the lottery for a while, so value is even more critical. Dunleavy does not represent the answer.
Dunleavy isn't that good, and here's why: He isn't a great shooter. Good yes, but he is no Glen Rice or even Shane Battier. He doesn't have NBA athleticsm His defense wasn't good against college guys, it will be putred in the NBA (note: if you saw Dunleavy play Wilcox, Prince or Jeffires you realize the above 2 are true. On defense he stood no chance when those guys wanted to score, what is going to happen when he plays refined NBA swingmen and forwards? He is very unathletic for an NBA 2 or 3) He has shown little leadership ability to carry a college team because Battier and JW could do that. Dunleavy is a very good college player who stood out extra because of the playmakers that have been on his team plus Boozer in the middle. I hope Dunleavy comes out to make the draft richer, but I sure as heck hope we don't pick him with our 1st pick.
