before u say this....consider that we really didn't play that well in Adelman's system when we have Yao. That's a fact even though they all coincide with Yao coming bak from an injury in an early season. When we had our winning streak and fabulous late season run, more than half the time was without Yao Ming. This seem to suggest that Adelamn doesn't fit with Yao's game. While it is also true that Yao has got no one but himself to blame for his poor play thus far, I do think JVG abd Thibodeau would be able to better utilize Yao to boost his play and improve his confidence.

I would have to agree with the thread topic. Yao should be running the high post or even the low post and passing at will. The problem is that when he has the ball everyone else just stands around and watches. Yao in the low block; no cutters, nobody running around picks, inevitable double team and turnover if he doesn't shoot quickly....ugh!

T-Mac just seems lazy out there to me. Even if he is not 100% he can still make an effort to move without the ball to distract the defense. Instead he just camps out on the 3pt line and his guy then sags down and clogs the passing lanes....ugh!

The second unit seems to get it, but they cannot compete well against starters on the elite teams. I don't know what to do here but something has got to change. I think its a sad day in the NBA to consider the total lack of fundamentals being practiced by players today. And don't give me this crap about not being in shape, you get PAID to be in shape and you should be able to run off screens all night long if you use your team mates as picks properly.....ugh!

Why can't we just all play together God why...

I think there just needs to be constant motion, and ball movement. Obviously, with T-Mac on one leg, and Yao being this unathletic, it's not going to work. SO I believe, that's why Adelman has been going with the ISO's until T-Mac can get back to running around, and Yao can work his way back to game shape. Also, Battier should definitely help this situation.

Simple every minute that Yao play if you don't have a fast break, pls run everything with Yao on the low post.

When Yao is in the bench then Run Adleman offense.

Artest need to come off the bench, he need to be the man of the 2nd unit to be effective, is the best for the team.

Before we can come with better idea, this is exactly what we should do. Plus, we need to win some games!

I actually like this idea. Our stars did great under JVG. Our bench could be more motion oriented. It's time to start thinking about winning games.

don't you all remember what the JVG offense was? it was give T-Mac the ball and run him over a pick and roll, over and over and over again, until he wore down.

Better shooting on both squads and it doesn't matter who is with what unit.

this is the most made sense thread in awhile.i totally respect r.a. as a coach for what he has done with his past teams and is great coach but if this offense is goin to work you cant build a team around the coach.i was very skeptical when rick came in as our coach .i remember along the lines "yao is great on the low post but if we switch it having him on the high post and low post.. his great passing ability and seeing the floor will open things up!"problem i think is yao is a great passer ...on a basic offense (jvg ball).by yao being a lowpost "this is were i need to be the whole time"player it makes it easy for him and he can dominate hence his morale goes up.his extra abilities kick in.rick is forcing yao to do too much and hes not comortable at doing to much in such an offense!

....and as for tmac ...as much as i love him ....hes a great player....rick ball offense exposed alot of what can do and cant do !

I never wanted Rick Idleman in the first place. We all know JVG is a better coach. Especially for this roster we have.

Apparently, Brooks calls the 2nd unit "The Goons" or "The Goonies". Kinda a strange name. What you guys think?

There are 2 major elements in JVG's offense to work: Yao's dominance and reliable perimeter shooters.

You probably still hold your last hope on Yao's low post game (which I'd doubt a bit due to Tom Thibodeau and Deke are left and Yao's physical condition these days) and assume Yao would regain his dominance in the low post. But look into our perimeter players: Rafer, TMac and Ron Artest. We've only one reliable shooter in Artest. JVG's offense in the current unit can only be another failure.

I might still want Yao to get back to his low post game again but I will further bet on Von Wafer. I have pursued this for quite some time already: put TMac on PG. Von looks like a sharp shooter in pre-season games so I may replace Rafer by Von. We probably will lose our defence but do we really have much left nowadays?

JVG's offence is ugly but seriously it was just one reliable shooter shy from succeed. Our 3P% in the final 2 games against UTAH in 2007 was 28.6% and 33.3% while UTAH was over 40% in those games.
