yes the season is still early. our chemistry is not there. and i'm sure we'll be much better than we are right now. when shane gets back, our defense will be better. if we sign deke, our rebounding will improve. but when i say let's be realistic, it's to the expectations of our supposed "stars" i really don't consider tracy or yao a superstar anymore (they never were the past 2 years). tracy right now doesn't look like he'll ever be healthy (meaning 90%+). he'll have great games here or there, but not consistent enough to the "the" guy. and he's too weak mentally to be the guy. yao is simply just not that guy. if we're going to do big things in the playoffs, our other players have to have bigger roles (scola, brooks, landry...) this is not a rant. i know we're going to be a top 4 seed. i know we're going to play better as the season goes. i know tracy and yao will pick things up. but we don't have a superstar. we don't even have a deserving all-star starter. we must change to a team that wins AS A TEAM.
i think in brooks, scola, landry we have 3 guys who are PERFECT for the adelman offense. and brooks and landry are still very young and can be cornerstones for this team. our other 3 stars just are not fit for what adelman wants to do: they're all iso players.
ive stressed it a million times, i dont think we can win a championship with the current roster....we need to trade for a starting PG cuz even tho brooks is playing amazing, he is not really a starter cuz he will be a defensive liability against stronger PGs (which there are plenty of). The other big thing is that we need to get longer in the front court, trading for someone that is at least 6'10" can jump, rebound, and hustle...big teams with long front-court players like the lakers, boston, hornets, blazers, etc will consistently beat us on the glass especially during the crunch-time minutes of the 4th quarter where most players are tired. Chuck, Scola, and Landry are all good rebounders but their rebounding is based on hustle...players that get rebs based on athleticism and length will have an advantage in the 4th quarter. Get those two problems fixed and we are set...but i always feel like im the only one who thinks this...
i think vince can jump higher than yao with superglue on his shoes! HOUSTON NEEDDS A WAKE UP CALL!!!!!!! i don care if we lose 10 it would be a great wake up call
