I was at the bank the other day and this dude just had full booty tighty whities showing. I gotta say it was uncool.
skater doods too! we only want to encourage this look on women. pants should fall below the hips ala shakira. that's all..
When walking around with your ass hanging out of your pants gets you undesirable results or bad consequences, people will stop doing it. We don't need a law for it, it should be cultural. Like if you call me a c*nt, I'm going to pop you in the jaw. No need for a law against calling people c*nts. We police ourselves.
In the 14th century, people used to wear shoes with absurdly pointy ends called poulaines. Early on they had short pointy ends like the ones above, but as time went on they got pointier and pointer like so: Sometimes as above they got so long that the ends had to curl back up to keep wearers from tripping over them. At the extreme, the ends were so long that they had to attach the pointy bit at the knee. This was an incredibly silly fashion, as I'm sure anybody can see. People who wore these shoes looked silly. But what is even more insane when you look back at it is the way "the establishment" reacted to this fashion. In England they made wearing them a crime (IIRC, I think it was punishable by death at one point). Religious leaders all warned that people wearing them would go to hell. Even the pope wrote some missives about their immorality. When you read what people said about it then, about poulaines being the work of Satan, indicating lax moral virtues, and a poor upbringing, etc. it all sounds incredibly silly, verging on outright insane. The point is that people will be people. I understand why traditionalists hate these baggy pants. But this, too, will pass. On the grand order of things, there are much greater problems in the world. If people want to walk around with the waist of their pants at their ankles, they will do it. It looks stupid but keep it in perspective. When these people can only get employment at McDonalds, the smart ones will figure it out and the rest will marginalize themselves by working for minimum wage for the rest of their lives. Making some law to try and fix the problem would be both silly and ineffective.
I agree with the President elect on this issue. This is not an issue of civil liberties, it is an issue of respect for others. Well said by our next President.
I just hope brothers and white boys alike listen to the man and pull up their dang pants! Drives me bonkers to see guys walking down the street with one hand holding up their pants as they walk. Buy pants that fit, or use a belt please!
I agree. No laws but just have some respect. The police officers around my campus issue citations for indecent exposure for this type of thing.
Will the brothers change their style to Obama Chic, and P Diddy cool? If they carry themselves in a sloppy fashion with boxers hanging out, then people will assume their work is sloppy, also. If they want to rise up to be the President Elect or business professional in corporate america, they have to keep their underwear from being exposed.
Remember, when Bill Cosby said brothers should be pulling up their pants? Didn't he catch some flack for it?

Those undesireable consequences go right over the head of most people. Public image. Think about how that ties in with society.
In our culture of mediocrity, non baggy pants wearers will be considered elitists or sellouts. A different approach might be necessary. Something in the lines of abject humiliation to reduce the notion that it's a badge of honor or presitge.
