Imho, the Rockets should get Deke back as soon as possible. Make the necessary moves and make it happen. I'm not trying to say we're in trouble without him, but we are going to lose some matches because he's not present. For instance the Lakers tonight, if Deke were there he could be the intimidator we need to force players outside of the paint and if a player get beat he would be there to back them up (which you can definetly expect tonight from Kobe, Pau & Odom if not more). So when should the Rockets get Deke back and why ?
Seeing as he only will play a few minutes tops per game I would sign him as soon as possible. Of course, i'm not paying the LT so i Just want our backup center already.
Rockets need him right now for his defense, rebounding and interior D. The opponent usually gets a layup drill when Yao sits.
Now. Yao needs him to practice against and as an option for Adelman when the backup bigs aren't getting it done.
Agreed, I think Yao has gotten used to shooting against our shrimps in practice and it is costing him in games. DD
The reason why yao got blocked so many times these games is we do NOT have another 7 footer out there practice with yao. Sign back Deke ASAP!!!
Our defense is horrid without Deke. The reason why our defense is bad now is because of the loss of our 2 best defensive players last year, Deke and Battier. Without him we're gonna continued to get wrecked by subpar centers who arent afraid of yao.
I think we will have Deke back after the all star game. He is so old that he can only be effective for half the season. I think the fron office will wait a while but the front office is not stupid. They know what Mutombo means to this team and they will sign him eventaully.
If/ when we sign Deke who says he is going to be playing at all....Remember last year Deke played what 40 mins until Yao got hurt.
The things is that we do not need him know. As long as we are over .500 and teams like Dallas and the Spurs are doing so bad, we can afford to wait untill the all-star break to sign Deke. Sure we have flaws in our team that Deke can help improve, but serously guys, we are building for the Play-offs, not a 7-0 record.
didn't we sign a 7 time all star 7 footer beginning of last season ? why can't we just utilize him in practice against yao?
Hahahah, Sikma? I say we sign Deke pretty soon, even though I like the idea of Yao going against Sikma in practice.
For all the people who haven't optioned for 'now --> we need him bad' should really look at this Lakers game and tell me again we do not need him right f-ing now.
