Where to be on offense? Most of the time, that means standing around and watching T-Mac hold the ball on the elbow or perimeter. I think Dorsey can stand around on the court and watch T-Mac.
When we have McGrady on the floor, we don't need any self created offense from Dorsey. Landry was like this last year, but this year he is just growing into a monster with even more versatility. Since Dorsey (and clutchfans) hyped him and himself so much, he better be worth the waiting. If he can crash the board, get that rebound, dunk that piece of **** which Yao has failed to do, then I'm good. But if he can't even stop an average center from getting 15 points 1 v 1, then I'll take Hayes over him.
That let's you know right there he prolly doesn't know how to do that yet either. Some people can't chew gum and not get in the way of the star players at the same time. You ever look at a person and immediately think "the light's on but nobody is home?" I get that vibe from Dorsey alot. That said, I do think the game tonight against the Clippers is a good time to give him spot minutes, see if he performs differently from practice to gametime. About Swift, every dog has it's day, especially against former teams. That doesn't change the fact Stro Swift is a basketball moron. All athlete no brains.
i'd rather give the minutes at the 4 to scola and landry. if dorsey were to play, it would have to be at the 5, but still worth a shot. we need to sign deke.
I agree with you, v.3.0. I was just making a sarcastic remark about our motion... err... motionless offense. I do have some real concerns about Dorsey's attitude as well but it's too early to say. A lot of youngins come into the league that way. At least confidence shouldn't be an issue. Again, I'm interested in seeing this lineup at some point this season: Brooks McGrady Artest Landry Dorsey That lineup could have a nice mix of offense, defense and quickness. It would be shocking to see a team that could truly get up and down the court. As Rockets fans, we haven't seen anything like that in years.
LOL - I guess so, but at some point you have to say that is all you are gonna get...I think Rafer has passed that point, don't you? DD
most likely but I thought rafer had a slow start last year too? only dif this year is the fact Mike and Bobby are playing horrible compared to AB today, lets hope Ab continues to play that way
We'll never see the full Princeton offense in effect with this current roster. Too many specialists and the all around skilled players we have like to hold the ball like you mentioned. Not just Tmac though, Artest is guilty also. He's just used to looking for his own shot most of the time, and that's a pity cause he's a great passer when he wants to be. I think both of them can be great in the Princeton offense but those 2 are so geared to look for their own shot and then create offense for others when they make their move then that becomes the whole posession right there. Also a small part of why they hold the ball (moreso with Tmac) is that they don't trust their teammates to cut and move at the right time and right spots....because... Yao is ill fitted for the motion. I've seen enough that I know that is true. He's slow athletically and slow with decision making at times. Also is programmed to hold the ball, not his fault, he's been told to look for the double team. Battier is just a specialist on the offense, and also athletically pedestrian quickness wise. Hayes and Rafer are offensive handicaps. That's alot of the rotation right there. That lineup you mentioned, Dorsey sticks out like a sore thumb of the player who doesn't fit if that lineup tried to use the motion. But for pure athleticism, yeah it would be interesting to see them together.
I just want Dorsey to replace Yao around 3 minutes in each qtr. The other 2 by another play like Landry or Hayes so that Yao will play around 30 minutes per game. We don't want to win more than 60 regular games to be in the playoff. Yao is now playing way too many minutes: close to 40. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he would not get hurt because of fatigue.
Dorsey was a one-dimensional player in college. Right now he is a no-dimensional NBA player. I know he has some good youtube clips so that means he will be an All Star soon but some of us older fans actually rate a guy based on more than 2 minutes of highlights with a Kanye West song in the background. Dorsey isn't getting meaningful minutes on this team this season. If he does it means the team is in more trouble than anyone wants to imagine.
I know. The Morey comment kept getting thrown in my face all summer when I said Dorsey wasn't a rotation player for this team. 6 games later it appears I was right. He does not do anything other than dunk that Chuck Hayes does not do much, much better.
Morey says he can replace Yao for some mins. Maybe that's why he didnt sign Deke this summer. But what is he gonna do now when Dorsey seems like a neighbour on the court to SF3
One of the biggest problems of our web surfers is that we often treat real- time matters as if they are computer games. As if that we can somehow save and load and try different options without inducing any damage to the real cause. Have to say it out loud:"REAL WORLD NBA IS NO COMPUTER GAME!" Bearing in mind that this team have just aquired a major piece of the rotation, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out that coaching staff need to set up a regular rotation pattern in the first 20-30 games of the season. With Artest and Barry being added and Brooks promoted, chemistry between rotation players are not to be taken granted. Rookies is more likely eased in gradually. We can recall the same story about Landry and even Brooks in last season. It took about 30 games (may be more?) to stable the rotation until landry could get a chance to appear on the court. As good as Landry was, you don't throw a second-round rookie in a newly built rotation. That would have messed up chemistry among key players. You put folks like Scola and Artest,Barry in right away, not guys like Dorsey. Dorsey's path will emulate Landry's. And hopefull it will work out similarly.
