I've read somewhere that the coaching staff is allowing Yao one full day's extra rest every week this season. The many extra hours of rest allow him to play the extra minutes per game, so I am fine with his minutes.
Yao knows ALL OF THIS, Don't act like you could possibly teach Yao anything. Do you really think the coach and assistant coaches don't see this?
Of course they do. This is a fan forum. Every possible topic is discussed in here. It's part of the fun.
The suggestions are good, but I don't think it's that easy for him. For 1, he is Chinese. How can we deprive him of his hometown treat? Maybe we could ask him to stay away from unhealthy Chinese food, like ....(I dont know) For 2, he left Chinese 22, a time when one is usually crazy about video games. I know he plays WOW on a regular basis. He says it's a way of relaxing. Not sure... For 3, I think I read the report that he has told RA about it.
Exactly. in the game thread sometimes things get heated. it's only because thats where all the action is. thats where we are seeing it all unfold live. nothing like raw human emotion.
No, RA may not know it. Recall earlier games in last season, RA asked to play "wisely": not to shoot too soon and waited to see whether other teammates have better opportunity. I recalled one commentator predicted: it will ruin Yao, so long as Yao hesitates for 2 second, he will get double team immediately. One year past, we see what Yao has become. Just VG mentioned, RA had never have experience how to use a power center before!!! He wants Yao to be a control tower instead of power center.
I totally agree. When the defense is picking up on Yao, he has to shoot or pass quickly, even it's risky to do it sometime. The last shot of his Portland game is a good example. It will be much better than the slow play/shoot or pass after several seconds. When Yao is standing there with the ball, he is a sitting duck, EVEN a caveman can steal it.
Is it possible Yao is slowing becoming his great idol Sabonis of the NBA version? Maybe we will all realize that Yao isn't the Yao with that zilch movement anymore. Maybe we just have to learn to live with it. Maybe your expectation is unrealistic with things you want to Yao to do, which he was able to do, but not anymore.
Like what, dunk the basketball? He's 7'6", that's CLEARLY got to be a mental thing. He'll straighten that out. The guy is still money on his jumpers. He just hasn't been taking that many.
All jokes aside, I don't think Yao has lost anything physically. This season we've seen what he can do well, when he does it. I think he and Tmac have been a little lazy overall, Tmac on defense and Yao on rebounds.
