I'd say a better argument is that killing people is okay if there is a compelling reason and due process. And, they ("we" I guess, since I'm somewhat pro-life and pro-capital punishment) would categorize capital punishment as meeting those criteria but would not say the same about the flippant and arbitrary ways we are allowed to decide to kill babies.

Gun store owners are makin out like bandits. They are making more money off Obama than they ever did under Bush. Wait, until the stimulus package hits and everybody gets $500 more. I am sure plenty of those checks will be used on more guns.
This is why the Bush administration is losing Republicans in the West... Related to the original topic... hunters love hunting near parks because obviously, there are more likely to be good animal populations ins places where hunting is not allowed and disturbances are minimal. Additionally, Arches and Canyonlands are magnificent places... and not just the parks but surrounding land. It would be absolutely tragic to have drilling just outside the boundary. If you have never been to Arches, get there post haste. Here's a map of the proposed lease areas.. Arches and Dinosaur get pounded by this action and one of the things that makes Canyonlands so awesome are the sweeping views where you can see for miles... and until now, see nothing but nature. Sad if this ends up happening. And Repubs, your party is killing itself... even Utah counties went more blue this election and stuff like this sticks in the memory out there.
well the other party is limiting many areas to bow or shotgun hunting only so its not like they have a better choice elsewhere.
Slightly OT, can anyone recommend a reputable dealer in Houston? Looking for good prices on a Bushmaster AR15 and maybe a Glock G19 and/or G21.
Probably all out of stock if you are not joking. I would wait about a month or so then hit a gun show. You will generally find the best prices there. Bushmaster rifles are gonna be very expensive for the next few months.
If memory serves, either Clinton or a chief aid lamented that the "assault weapon" ban was a bad idea. It was needlessly divisive and didn't have any impact in public safety. While I doubt Obama has too much in common with the nation's hunters and gun owning culture, I think he'd avoid making the same mistake. There are plenty of pro-2nd amendment people who voted for him and there is little to be gained from upsetting the status quo.
my guess is he will make a ammo tax and make private sales inside the walls of a gunshow illegal. Forcing people to make deals in the parking lot, white van style, which would still be legal. will also TRY to make the 10 round limit on magazines happen again. If congress does any of this they will pay heavily like they did in 1994.
Or Marie Curie...or George Washington Carver...or Bill Worrell (actually that would tend to counter my argument)
