man I'm just super pissed right now. never had any problem with dish, and now this?! just called today to place an order, like I always did, trying to get the early bird special. and I was told that they don't offer the service this season.
talked to their supervisor, and it's very unlikely that they will solve this issue with NBA...

I'm gonna try the broadband thing, and good thing I got a new 24'' monitor. :D

Rather than beating my head with another Dish CSR, I tried contacting the NBA. Here's my chat with a representative on NBA.com

Me: Why can't I get NBA League Pass on Dish Network?

NBA: I apologize, but I do not have any information regarding negotiations between the NBA and Dish Network.
From what I have heard, they are working on a contract, but I cannot guarantee that.

    ...

Me: Okay, if I get NBA Broadband and the Dish deal comes through, can I pay the difference and get both?

NBA: I apologize, but I am not sure about that.
You would need to talk to those companies to see if that is possible.

Me: Or at least get a refund from the NBA for broadband ...
Otherwise, I'm paying twice for broadband!

NBA: If you sign up for our service, we will not be able to refund you.
However, we will soon have daily and monthly subscription options that you may want to consider.
That way, you will not be paying for more than you need.

Me: That seems rather unfair to me.

NBA: I really do apologize. Consider the monthly option once it becomes available.

    ...

I should know better than to try to talk reason with the NBA. Sigh.

    Dish doesnt have NBA anymore?

I was a Dish customer for almost 6 years, and quit for directv. I even wrote a rant here about my Dish experience. What are you waiting for? Directv's customer service is way better. I can always talk to a person with US accent without waiting.

Anyone had success activating their broadband companion account after buying television LP with Time Warner?

Each game is archived almost instantly after it's over. Say bye to your DVR.

how does watching it on DVR vs. archived on LP Broadband make that different? there is an option that hides the score on the broadband window.

the best part of LP Broadband is simultaneously watching three game at once, and you can toggle between all three video/audio to skip commercial breaks and focus on whichever game you want... picture in picture of DVR doesn't offer even that...

I didn't know that you could hide the score. Thanks for the info.

I did try the demo last night and it was cool to watch three games at the same time.

I wish I could order the broadband package, but it won't let me do it because I do not have a US billing address. If anyone is willing to help me out, I'll be happy to pay (via Paypal or Moneybookers). Thanks.

I ordered my NBA broadband account today. The form stated that I got the early bird price this year but subsequent years will be billed at regular season price. It looks like they will roll over the broadband account every year unless it is canceled. I think it sucks that the roll over is for full price.

You are right. Dish is still running the free preview thing. I missed the deadline for the broadband thing... :(

even with the free price, it's still cheaper than dish network league pass unless you can sell your online account. not a big deal. i went for the broadband thing for $85 a couple of weeks go. the quality is good, though there is about 30 seconds delay.
