In response to the debate about his defense, we've all seen Mac play some incredible D when healthy/motivated. I have no doubt that part of his game will come around. His lack of defense right now is a significant part of why the team as a whole isn't playing great D. He was an important part of our defense in the past.

It's these other numbers that I wouldn't keep my hopes too high about. McGrady has still got lots of game, but I doubt he'll be putting up those kinds of numbers very consistently.

T-Mac is taking better shots, and not having to expend as much energy on both ends of the court. He's a much better player when he's taking the majority of his shots attacking the basket and that is what he has been doing this season.

Also, it's not shocking his free throw percentage has improved. For one thing, he should be in the 75-80 percent range naturally and secondly, he's not going to the line dead legged from trying to carry the team all the time.

let's be fair, mcgray's kind of a drama queen diva...........if this was kobe, we wouldnt be calling him a cripple cause he wouldnt be letting his physical issues become mental, like even adelman says mcgrady has.

If a Yao's fan has started a thread to boast his statistics after two tough loss, he would be called a yao-only-fan left and right by everyone.

This only-fan syndrome needs to stopped.

TMac usually starts the season as a distributor to try and get the team to find a rhythm. He also does this in the first half of every game and then asserts himself as a scorer in the second half.

The real story that EVERYONE should be talking about is Aaron Brooks. I wouldn't start him just yet because our identity is still defense, but I think he's making a very strong case for 20+ minutes given how dynamic our offense looks when hes out on the floor. Cant wait for Yao, Artest, Battier, McGrady and Brooks on the floor at the same time. It would give the other team a hell of a time on both ends of the floor.

    Well, I'm certainly surprised-another Tmac-focused thread/post from you.

Don't you ever get bored talking about one person everytime?

Don't you think it's a little weird to come here after two bad losses, where the Rockets played lousy, where maybe people are a little pissed off and say "Yeah the team's sucking, and we lost, but my guy kicked ass!"?

Exactly, simply trying to point out stuff to keep the fans from getting too down.

    Nothing sinister.

It shouldn't be about "my guy". T-Mac gets ragged on (for somethings rightfully so) about this and that and this and that. He's lost a step, he can't shoot, he's not a star, blah blah blah.

As far I can see, T-Mac is fine. That's all this thread is about. He's still the most potent clutch player we have because of his vision and playmaking ability. He's going to be healthy in a few weeks.

It's not going to work if T-Mac is the only person playing well. There's a reason we got Ron. It takes more than good T-Mac games to win. 4 years in Orlando proved that, and 3 years here has proved that.

When we're winning, T-Mac takes a backseat and lets the other guys play. That's how it should be. He should just concentrate on playing efficient now.

What really makes me happy is how many times hes getting to the FT line.

I'm extremely happy with his FT shooting, because free throws=EASY POINTS!!! In the last few years, with his poor free throw shooting and questionable shot selection, he made himself work a lot harder than needed to get his points. While I always expect T-Mac to take tough jumpers and be either hot or cold during the game and over the course of the season, he now has a "constant" to go to, which is the free throw line.

    His play is extremely encouraging.

his best yr was when he got to the line 10 times a game. right now, he's at 8.4. if he can keep that up, or even better, get it to 9-10, this team is in great shape.

ron artest will eventually find his groove (most likely with the 2nd unit) when shane returns. so he'll be fine. plus, with shane back, he's not gonna expend too much energy on the defensive end.

yao hopefully will be fine. again, as long as yao contributes on the boards and defense, we would have won the past 2 games. that's more worrisome than him scoring 8-10 pts. we don't need him to dominate offensively for us to win anymore (neither does tracy or ron). but to be a non-factor in every category is disheartening.
