i'm assuming tmac was supposed to guard roy and make sure he wouldn't get a close shot to the basket so when he saw roy run away from the basket, he stayed in his zone. i don't really blame tmac. 99 times out of 100, roy will miss that shot. any coach would be happy to let the other team have to take a 30 foot 3 point shot attempt to win the game.
daym. this loss hurts. not to sour grape, but here's what John Hollinger has to say... "It appeared he had some favorable timekeeping as well, as the clock appeared to start late. Though he had only 0.8 seconds left to shoot, our analysis with replay and a stopwatch indicated that it took him 1.6 seconds to catch, gather and release the game-winner, and that nearly two seconds passed between the time the ball was inbounded and the time the buzzer went off. Perhaps this is all considered normal -- there's bound to be a lag time before the clock operator triggers the start -- but as long-time Portland columnist Dwight Jaynes told me after the game, "I want that guy to time the rest of my life." " http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-081107 Still we move on. 80-2 is the final score. Glad to see Brooks playing down the stretch.
That is the longest .8 second I have ever seen. He had enough time to catch it AND turn around like that and shoot it?!
The last play is obviously T-Mac's mistake. But T-Mac is not moving well and has been bad defensively. Why Artest wasnt on Roy?
Tmac cant move good laterally because he has a bad knee. Tmac thought Artest was gonna go and Artest though Tmac was gonna go. There was a mistake in communication there. Still, it was a great shot by Roy and I didnt really expect it to go in especially since it was near midcourt with time pressure.
This video shown how much we miss Shane so bad. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qZYwADrh-Wo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qZYwADrh-Wo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Isn't .8 and 1.6 seconds a pretty big difference considering how Roy had time to pivot, square his body, and shoot his high arching shot? This may be a pipe dream, but maybe we can have a redo like the Hawks/Heat had last season.
Wide open? Are you kidding me? Roy was from 30 feet out! Seriously, do you expect people to actually make shots like those?
Man that clip was heartbreaking to watch. Yao finally came though but damn that what a shot... damn you to hell roy.
The Refs should have reviewed Yao's shot and put the right amount of time on the clock. What a bunch of home-cooked horse****. Roy hit a ridiculous shot, but it shouldn't have counted.
All I can say is this is another game fixed by the ref or the NBA for that matter. Boston and now Portland. thanks donohagy or whatever your sorry azz name was, I guess you still have "friends" in the NBA.
really? I am sure you have seen ppl made full court shots during the games. but for a game winning 30 feet shot is totally different story. YES, he was wide open.
no to bash on tmac but if you watch closely...he let roy run off and "pointed" *probably called someone to go get him* then decided it was too late and he ran but of course, it was too late
Miracles don't always happen to us, we have to acknoledge that the GOD don't always stand on our side.
Doesnt matter. u stick to ur guy like glue. put a hand in his face or something. and yes, with .8 seconds left those kinda shots r all u can make... SOOO, u definitely defend those shots. have we forgotten ralph sampsons shot against the lakers? stocktons heartbreaker where drexler was asleep on d. preventing barkleys championship. There is no excuse for lazy D. even if t-mac is hurting and slow, where was his help? if i see roy running then im leaving my guy to cover roy. let someone else shoot that shot with .8 seconds left on the clock. it was just bad defense on the part of the team. we deserved to lose this one anyway. hopefully we start a win-streak soon. and next time we meet the blazers we need to demolish them and beat Roy so bad that he turns into Matt Maloney.
