Yo, admittedly, I am kinda excited, yet hurt at the same time. But hey, that shot counted. We got beat by a lucky shot. That shot will not go in 99 out of 100 times. But it did, and we lost. Yo, this is still only game 5. We don't have Shane Battier, a HUGE, HUGE part of our team. I can't put too much emphasis on this. Although every single win and loss has meaning in this conference, this loss should not carry all that meaning for our psychy.
i cant believe it how the show the replay of the the ball almost hit the net and the light finally turn on....biggest bull**** in my life wow
Some of you people need to pay attention better. It was a tough shot that would go in 1 time out of a 100 in that kind of situation. This is what im IRKED about though. Idiots are calling out Tracy on this play! It was very obvious that Adleman wouldnt put Tracy and his gimp knee as the central defender with one shot left in the game. It was Ron who was supposed to switch over and cover Roy if he flashed outside which he did. Hence T-Mac pointing towards Artest when Roy made his move towards the half court line. Either way it was a tough shot and it went in. 77 games left get over it.
Everyone complaining about the defence on the last shot (including Kenny and Charles) do have a case, however it might be by design. When Roy run to the 3 point line, T -Mac was the only one that was underneath the basket, if he over pursues and some one makes a good cut, that's a closer shot underneath the basket. I would take a 38 foot jumper over a layup any day of the week.
Wow, so wouldn't it be better if the ref didn't call the foul on Yao's play?? at least the time should run up and we got another OT...
Amongst rox many problems, the coach is just not a good defensive coach. He caused this loss. TMAC shares in the blame as well, but If it were not from him there would be no drama to start with He had Yao preventing the lob to the basket not blocking the inbound player. why did he think they were going to try to lob the ball? because he called the same play for TMAC before. Artest was Holding outlaw and preventing him from flashing the basket as he is quicker than Roy, He should has told TMAC to chase close up on Roy, no one was going to call a foul at the end. This is the NBA, you cannot leave a player wide open like that, especially an all star. Hope this loss does not come back to haunt us
Their was still time while the ball was still in the air! It's obvious the shot clock man intentionally started it late or else how can you explain in .8 seconds with your back to the basket, one step, turn, jump, shoot, and halfway to the basket the light goes off. If we were to time how long it takes for the ball to leave his hand and reach the basket it would have taken twice as long as .8 seconds. That shows the time didn't start until it just about left his hand. The angle that they kept showing the ref was absurbed to make a call, you couldn't see the clock or you couldn't see Roy to make the call. Makes you wonder why the ref didn't question that.
we have to admit that yao played another poor game except the last second incredible 2+1 performance , but look at the 4th quarter and OT that yao need the gdamn ball from the teammate to attack the rim and not just pick and roll like nobody can see him in the court , i think Rick adelman should rethink his "Princeton" tactics and get some clues from JVG ,btw the clock kill the Rockets not Roy
It just seems too long of a basketball move to make in .8 seconds. It takes maybe a full second to catch, turn around, and full extension shot. That was 38 feet away or so. I was happy for Yao because he got that clutch shot, even though he had a bad game. He made it when it counted, plus the and1. It's not like the NBA can do anything about it. (or can they?)
I've said this several times. There is no doubt that it took Roy more than .8 to shoot the ball, but I see no reason to believe that the clock manager did it on purpose. There's always a little bit of delay. Great shot. Lucky, but great. Like someone else pointed out, I'm pretty sure McGrady did what he was supposed to do. If he pursues Roy and Artest also flashes to him then Aldridge (I think) could have cut inside and shot an uncontested 15 footer. McGrady was staying to make sure that didn't happen. When he saw the ball go towards Roy is when he finally started to pursue. The defense always looks bad when someone makes an incredible shot. Give the guy credit.
All you who are saying one game doesn't matter thats BS. What if we had one more win last season? It would have made a big difference. In the western conference every win matters a lot! Especially against the teams you should beat. Whoever runs the clock did not start it until Roy had already caught it with his back to the basket and turned to face the basket on his way up to release. If they would have started it the same as when Yao took the final shot..it wouldn't have counted because it was on time. I slowed it down ...watched it again and again and its right there for everyone to see. We will remember this one.
I too think the catch-pivot-shoot took longer than 0.8 seconds. Maybe the Rockets submit the tape to the league office for review. But at this point we have 99% chance of being 3-2. Oh well. Move on, and do better next time.
We will remember it because it was an incredible shot. The season is early and our team still isn't clicking. I honestly believe taht Artest needs to come off the bench with that second unit. It just doesn't seem like they know what to do with him and Tracy out there at times. One loss won't kill us.
Tracy and Ron weren't on the same page and that left him open. We didn't deserve to win. Saying that, he didn't have enough time for that shot. A catch and shoot, yes, but not a catch, take a couple of steps to get set, turn around and shoot. Anyone who has DVR should not be arguing. I watched this a couple of times and I'm not even factoring the time of Yao's shot. The clock doesn't start until about when Roy gets to his spot and gets his feet set. There is no debating that. Its not that the refs are out to get us, its just home cooking I guess. That would have probably been reversed in Houston. Either way its the fifth game.
the argument is not weather the defense on the last play was bad, because in my opinion it wasnt. u made the man take like a 35ft shot, and did not even give the opportunity for a foul. IT WAS AN AMAZING SHOT, however there should have been maybe .1 on the clock not .08. YAO's shot must have taken at least another .5 seconds to go through the cylinder. On top of that when the clock doesnt start when ROY touches the ball the game should be over. no question that the ROX should have won the game a lot earlier, but they got screwed by the clock opperator in portland. The ROX should send tape of the final 2 plays to the NBA front office for review, where they can count the actual time it took that was not run off the clock on the end of YAO's shot and the begining or ROY's better than i can. The game should be awarded to the ROX. just my thoughts, and i know i will prolly hear some crap for saying that but it is the way it should be.
watching roy's last shot again, what is t-mac doing when he runs at roy? he doesn't even put his hands up to try and alter the shot? it was like a halfway attempt at defense.
