I just found out that I am going to be heading to a conference in New Orleans in February. It's going to be a pretty short stay, 3-4 days. First: What is it like down there now? Should I decline the invite to this conference? My employer will be paying for basically everything so I won't be out of any money. I'll ask further questions once my initial one gets answered. I'm intrigued about going but just not sure if it would be worth it or not.
Did you miss the whole New Orleans thread today? Its on the next page. Great city to visit...great food, great drinks, great fun! You might want to check if the conference is the same time as Mardi Gras. If it is..thats a whole different ball game.
All these city threads are a great excuse to tell your best story. I remember in April '05 pre-Katrina I was there watching the Rockets Mavericks games 1 and 2. Both wins of course and a great time talking mess to the locals A) for actually HAVING a team and b) for ours being so very great. I was in college at the time and I started talking to a girl on facebook I went to elementary school with. She was going to Tulane at that time so after a late night discussion I drove to Houston at 2am to pick her up at the airport. I drove us back to Austin where much no-no spot to-doing ensued. A couple days later we drove to Nawlins and we spent a couple days there. It was an awesome few days. And that is the most effort I ever put into getting laid.
