DD you adamantly complained of underage girls in the olympics and now you're complaining of overage kids in your soccer league. If anything these overage kids should make you ecstatic.

This is just like the olympics!

If your league is based on what grade there in then that's that. If it's that big of a deal set your teams up based on age next time. It's the last game.

P.S. If they don't speak english they're probably really good at Fútbol :D

I remember when watching my kids play sports was fun. Then you had some parents come in and treat the coach like a little b****. Let the kids play a game. If the other coach is letting them cheat, then he and the parents of those kids should be ashamed.

If you want, talk with the other coach and let them know that his kids are telling people they are 8.

My daughter loves softball and played from the time she was in kindergarten (she's 13 now and just stopped playing, dammit). Over the years, she played in many, many tournaments and every other year there was one in Hays County she played in. The folks in Hays County always invited an East Austin team that was essentially the East Austin All-Stars. Their girls were huge... seriously. Not all, of course, but a large percentage probably fit the M.O. you mentioned, girls held back in school, so they were much older. They would regularly win the tournament, just killing teams! We got used to it. After getting past the "my kid's gettin' beat by giants and it ain't fair!" thing, we realized that it was great for those East Austin girls and gave even the top teams in our league a real challenge. One of my fondest memories was an undefeated season, when we beat the East Austin All-Stars. Just tell those parents to buck up and take it. I really think it's a good thing for all the kids. Teach them about humility! ;)

Swoly, because some of these kids are from Mexico, recently, and are a bit behind in grade level because of their lack of experience speaking English.

The league goes by age limits...period....but that doesn't mean other leagues, where these kids are from...abide by the same rules.

I don't know why you keep bringing their country of origin or what "other leagues" do. I could care a peanut what other leagues do. I think you are trying to explain why you brought up their "speaking little English", but it's not a good reason.

Dude. If this is your league, so be it. Put your foot down. "EVERYONE, please bring your birth certificates so we can verify EVERYONE's DOB's. Anyone whose birthday doesn't comply will be kicked out. ANYONE WHO DOESN'T BRING IT BEFORE THE NEXT GAME WILL NOT GET TO PLAY." <- apply it to everyone.

Age limit is the RULE? Apply it. You don't follow the rule? Sayonara and ...alo-ha, cabrón!

I am currently coaching U6 boys soccer as well. (Yes the league was that desperate :))

In our league, if one team is over-matched or is missing players, we swap or loan players, respectively. The point of both moves is to make the games more evenly scored (or iow to prevent blowouts).

For your situation, I would approach the opposing coach at half and propose a player swap to even up the game.

First of all, I think it probably safe to say that – as usual – you are the only one here trying to turn a thread about 5 year olds playing soccer into some kind of bbs anti-defamation crusade. Can’t you just drop it for once? No one (besides you) cares.

Second, DaDakota has already said that the kids are from ANOTHER league and therefore the rules he makes for HIS league don’t apply to the kids on the other team….because they are from ANOTHER league. So he can't tell them they can't play.

    ^
The fact that no one is speaking out against DaDakota's statement about them speaking little English doesn't mean it's not what it is. He stated they speak "little English"... WTF does that have to do with ANYTHING? He tried to explain why he said that, but it failed to prove anything.

You are saying that he can't say anything to the other leagues? Then don't play against the other leagues, or quit the whining and beat the other team by playing football.
DaDakota is not the BCIS. :p

The reason I bring it up, is that this team was added AFTER the season started and from ANOTHER league because they didn't have enough teams to play.

So, our league let them in, without checking their ages.

Now it is clear that these kids are much older than the level they are playing at, and some of the other coaches have complained that you have 8 year olds basically pushing 5 and 6 year old kids around.

I spoke to their coach, and he told me all the kids were in Kindergarten, but could not verify their ages......and I asked if they all met our leagues age requirement, he became very evasive...basically not answering the question.

It is only relevent in an informational capacity that these are non-English speaking kids...don't read more into it than there is....I was just explaining why their kids are older as their league rules are more lax.....

And now they joined our league, without us age verifying them.

These kids are from Mexico, that is not a put down, it is what it is...they are new to this country, don't speak English and are in kindergarten because they don't speak English...it is RELEVANT to this issue....

I say just bring an immigration agent and have them all deported!!!!

    I'm only kidding!

Your in a tough situation b/c you have to account for the safety of the kids. Just think of it this way, how bad would you feel if one of the older kids ran over one of your players and caused an injury?

Then your league made a huge mistake and now it's blaming the "other league" or the "other coaches" for letting overaged kids play with LEGIT kids. Can't handle a good game? Tough luck. Stop whining and play ball, then, or take your ball and go home. It's tough to say if your league knows how to handle "applying the rules" or will play the wimp. Good luck, sir.

I don't know which league you play in but everyone has rules. Whether the teams are grouped based on grade level or age, these leagues should have rules established and have the kids' birth certificates checked when the teams are rostered.

In our league, before each game, the referees check the game roster versus player's pictured ID. If there was any cheating, it would be an exeception, the papers would have been fabricated at the club's level and I doubt that you can prove it at the field.

Even if there is no cheating and everything is on the up and up, kids develop at different rate. 5, 6 yr old or even 17, 18 year old, some kids can be bigger and stronger and faster than others of the same age. I've seen many, many teams where the smallest players are a head or more shorter than the bigger ones. You got to get used to it. The kids do.

That was kind of the point of this thread pal...to discuss whether or not I should do anything about it.

The information about them being in Kindergarten and being overaged becuase they are new to this country was to explain the background.

As for your moronic comment about not handling a good game, you clearly have no clue as to the difference between a 5 year old and an 8 year old...it is miles different in ability, coordination, speed, and aggression.

    Comprende Amigo?
