My wife bought me a Wii last month. I would have preferred an X-box or PS3, but I don't dare tell her that unless I want to sleep on the couch for the next month.

I retired my PS2 in order to set up my new Wii. I usually only played sports games like NCAA, NBA2K, Madden, or Tiger Woods on my PS2.

Are the Wii versions of these games any good or are they cheesy? I know NCAA is just a horrible game for Wii (compared to the other versions). I prefer realistic sports games, not arcade style games. Am I out of luck?

Don't buy the basketball games. I liked Madden the first year and not so much the second.

I think your best bet is Tiger. The first one was pretty darn amazing and I think the latest version should be great.

^agree on the tiger woods recommendation.

Mario Kart is fun (is racing a sport?); if you like soccer, Pro Evolution soccer for the wii isnt too bad. Theres also an game based on the olympics -- that was semi-entertaining the one time i played it.

i also have the wii fit. but that was a waste of money.

I haven't played the Tiger Woods game, but I've heard it's a good one, like others have said.

Pretty much the only video games I play are NCAA and Madden, and Wii sucks for both of them. Which is probably why I've only played mine like twice. I'm going to sell it and buy and XBOX360.

tiger was good. The new one is supposed to be better
don't get the new tennis game, I forget what it is called, it uses both controllers, I didn't think it was good and traded it for mario cart which is ok.

I think the sports games that come with it are the best, especially the tennis

Just wait a year or so, then suggest a PS3 for your next bday so that you can play different types of games.. win-win-win ;)

Well that sucks -- I had high hopes for a more realistic tennis game on the Wii. I don't think it has enough power for a fast sports game with lots of players or movement -- seems like everything but golf is weak.

What about b-ball? I don't think they make NBA2K for Wii, but I see they have an NBA Live version. Not a fan of Live, but if it's my only option, is it worth it?

I tried last year's version and hated it, its was too much to do to shoot the ball and play defense with the controllers

Madden I got which was pretty fun to play, but a bit different to play compared to 360/PS3
