The elections are over, liberals will have their government and run their agenda. Honestly, I am relieved to finally see the end of these fraudulent neocon Republicans after destroying everything the conservatives stand for. Now begins the tough job of rebuilding from scratch the movement and hopefully keep it away from the corrupt hands of politicians. I don't care what happens to the GOP they deserve to crash and become dust. Personally I will take the task of following Obama's lead and perhaps better organizing this movement at the grass root level in the communities where it matters the most. We conservatives need reinvent how we deliver our message and must reengage the American people who understand the cause of limited government, personal responsibility and moral values. God Bless America and its new Commander in Chief Barack Hussein Obama II !!!
If the true conservatives will stand up against demonizing those with different moral values, they would probably gain a significant portion of the independents. Stand for what you believe in, but be humble and respectable about it.
I think the libertarians need to focus on smaller elections and not worry about the Presidency. Slowly, they should destroy the Republican party and rise up in its place.
I can only hope and pray we get there. Honestly we were trying to have our cake and eat it to. Lower Taxes Less Government Less Spending not Lower Taxes More Goverment More Spending
What exactly is the Conservative Movement . . Conservative Agenda What exactly does it mean? People ay they are conservative but ask them what it means. . they start to mumble Spell it out for me. . WHAT IS THE CONSERVATIVE AGENDA! Details would be helpful Rocket River
RIP: Fear mongering Half truthes Hypocrital base arguments like small goverment but lets propose constitutional ammendments. Wedge politics Swiftboating Only Republicans beleive in God. Small town America is the 'real America' Here's to hoping that the Republicans wake up and stop trying to divide America and instead start focusing on how to make America better. America spoke ...we're tired of crappy Carl Rove politics.
Republicans are not looking good now... They need at least two Congressional "change" elections to get back to parity with Dems. On the national level, they are reduced to the South and Great Plains, with Obama picking away at the borders of those two areas. McCain won only 5 states with 10 or more EVs: TX, GA, TN, MO, and AZ. TX was the only one greater than 15 EVs. Obama won 17 states with 10 or more EVs, including 9 of 11 with 15 or more EVs. Repubs are aging and white and rural while Dems are young and diverse and urban. They've lost most of their moderates... some intentionally... and are now reduced to their essence and destined to become less relevant as individuals appeal to their base... there is no center left to the party and the power vacuum falls to talk radio in the interim. My guess is they will try to turn more "conservative" for the next election and lose again before deciding there needs to be major changes in the party. Bush will be on the ballot for several cycles and be an effective tool against any Republican nominee, particularly as we learn more about what this administration has done. But they will come back. They always do... probably about the time Dems clean up the mess. I'm reminded of this quote four years ago... Norquist is an ass. When I read that quote at the time, I knew they would overreach and Dems would come back. I hope the Dems don't now think like Norquist did then.
Couldn't agree more. Obama is our new leader and I disagree with him on virtually all issues except for one. We love our country. We want what we think is best for our country. He is our new president. He deserves our respect. Hopefully, we can show an example to some liberals on how to honor our Commander in Chief. This is his time. Let us all celebrate as Americans, the truly historic nature of his accomplishment. We can respectfully disagree in January.
I think it's important for Democrats that Republicans develop into a better party. Just look at Republicans for an example of what can happen to a political party with no legitimate opposition. In less than a decade, the Republicans went from a mandate to decrease spending to the don't tax but spend Republicans we see today.
I voted for Obama. I am a republican. I did not vote for McCain because he is not a true republican. Republicans believe in lower taxes, small gov't, and less spending. What Bush is and what McCain would have been is not republican.
So were you going the lesser of two evils route? Because honestly that's what I did. I felt hesitant and reluctant about voting for president. I almost left it blank (and I just don't like Bob Barr) but thought I should cast a vote, hoping that the outcome would lead to better things for the GOP. I'm a registered Republican and I think this election outcome was great because now, hopefully the GOP can reform back to what it should be. A party that stands for lower taxes, less government and more rights and liberties. There's too many factions in the party right now. Maybe an implosion is a good thing
To the Liberals, I say this take this opportunity to heal the pain in this country and unite all Americans on one front to work for a better future for all. Please learn from the Republican mistakes of the last decade and do not repeat them or you will suffer the same fate. Deep inside I know you will do the same because its part of political cycle but somehow watching A black President take over gives me some ray of hope. Please do not shatter it.
Well I didn't vote for Obama but had a hard time voting for McCain and frankly it's probably good for conservatives that McCain didn't win masquerading as a Republican and conservative. Here is a quote from a few days back. Somebody guess when. "The budget should be balanced. Public debt should be reduced. The arrogance of officialdom should be tempered, and assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome become bankrupt."
But that doesn’t really mean anything. Taxes, government, and government spending are neither inherently bad nor good. No conservative would be against government as a whole because a healthy market economy needs proper government controls and fair trade laws. It could not exist without them. And society needs laws and enforcement to create the law and order that makes it all possible. The question now is, what parts of the economy should we the citizens manage through our elected bodies, and which should we leave up to the private sector? “Taxes are bad” is, I suggest, a dated line that is no longer useful. The question now needs to be, what’s the right balance?
I hope this is true. I think Western Republicans types started to get some support thanks to Ron Paul earlier this year and I think people are already tired of the far right wingers.
