OK, it's just spring training. It doesn't mean a lot. Still... these stats are astounding. Houston, in 27 games, has outscored opponents by a total of 78 runs (194-116). The 2nd best team is Arizona, outscoring people by 47 runs in 32 games. Last year, we outscored teams by a total of 78 runs in the entire season. Only 3 teams gave up fewer total runs than Houston -- St. Louis, Montreal, and Baltimore. While Houston scored 194 runs of their own, those teams scored 123, 107, and 135 runs respectively. Last year, the largest differential was 59 runs ... of course, that was the NY Mets, and we all know how well they did in the regular season. Hopefully, the Astros can avoid that fate.
i cant wait...im debating on whether i should the mlb league pass so i can watch the stros all year long...
Major you know as well as I this isn't a fluke. We should start the astros WS 2002 chant right now Red get league pass, now, No debating necessary if you like baseball and want to see a winner after this dreadful rockets season buy league pass to see your 2002 NL Champs: the Houston Astros.
MLB "Extra Innings", as it is called, is actually quite different from the other sports packages out there. First of all, you won't get every game...just the ones which are brodcasted on a major cable provider (Fox sports SW, etc.), but no local channels will be shown. Also, there are no games on Wednesday nights or Sunday nights shown (ESPN blackout rule). So, unless your game is on ESPN that night, you won't get to see it. I'd say you still get about 60-70% of the games, but there are times when you might not get an entire series (esp. if they're playing a sorry team on the road). There definitly is a reason why this package is the cheapest of the bunch.
Last year I had the opportunity to purchase Extra Innings after the All-Star game. I decided not to get it due to the fact that the Astros were only on around 2 times a week. Chek out the Extra Innings schedule before deciding if watching a lot of Astros games is important to you.
Keeping the tradition alive by going to Opening Day with my son and my dad on Tuesday...can't wait!! Go 'Stros!!!!
This pitching staff is electric. Oswalt said in the paper today he had an off-game: His control was not completely with him. What does he do? 7 innings of 1 run baseball, RAISING his ERA. Miller and Oswalt will hopefully be here for the next decade. Carlos might join them as well. We balanced the staff with 2 veterans like Shane and Mlicki, and though the bottom of our bullpen is not too good, our first 4 guys are outstanding-Wagner, Dotel, Redding, Cruz, and maybe Brocail to join. Our offense has never been so balanced, and our defense is at its best in a while. Biggio looks to have gained a LOT more range since he's fully recovered, and Bagwell finally has a shoulder to throw with. Ausmus is a gold glove guy, and Everett may join him in a few years. We lack speed in the outfield, but our players there have the arms and the brains to get around it. When was the last time we were able to set up a R-L-R-L-R-L etc. batting order? We went Biggio-Zaun-Bagwell-Berkman-Hidalgo-Ward-Ensberg-Everett last night. Our bench has a lefty pinch hitting specialist, THREE switch hitters, a speedy right hander, and another right hander that is probably in the top half of offensive shortstops. This team has talent, and balance, and a great coaching staff. How about a Brew-Crew sweep to start the season?
Don't forget, Nike, we have several good hitters AND pitchers ready for the majors waiting for even the smallest reason to come up and contribute (Ginter, Lane, Puffer, Lidge). I think I will check out the schedule of the baseball games on the Extra Innings package. I might be willing to get that.
You know what might have been electric. Imagine the conversations about if baseball or the women's NCAA would be on ESPN or ESPN2 tonight. I bet those were some heated conversations between the sexes.
I looked around and couldn't find anything specific about the price of that Extra Innings package. Does anyone know?
