guys, just reading all these other threads re: yao's poor performance last night. i think we all would agree that yao needs to bulk up again like he did in the previous seasons. right now he's getting bullied by the likes of perkins and davis. i think post surgery, they intentionally cut down the intensity of his training to avoid potential injury. i think they need to find a balance to get him pushing weights and bulk up again so that he can bang and dominate the paint again!
No. When you have leg injuries the last thing you need is extra weight on them. He was a lock for 80 games before he bulked up. I'd prefer to keep it that way. Bulking up is way overrated.
Just accept Yao is not one of the greats. He is good but not that great. This is why I appreciate Dream more and more.
Yao needs to go to rucker park and learn a feel things, one of those things being GET BIG and Man the F**k Up. i know i know, i shouldnt be hard on him, its one bad game but one bad game can lower your confidence and put you in a slump. hopefully yao will get back on track for the next game against portland.
Exactly. Seems to me like its fatigue and out of shape. He seems to have lost about an inch in his jumping. How many times has he missed a dunk or been blocked by the rim so far this season? Lower his minutes a bit and I think his stamina will come around.
Yao has hit his ceiling. Accept him for what he is, which is a 20/10 guy who will sometimes struggle and sometimes dominate. Let's get off the roller-coaster and stop calling Yao an all-time great when he has a blowout game and calling for him to improve when he plays fair to poor. He is what he is and that's all what he is.
I was at the game, he pushed Davis around all night. Yao is strong. Like Garnett. You can't tell but he is strong. He looked fatigued if anything, like when he couldn't get up on that dunk attempt.
I HAVE NEVER HEARD SUCH RUBBISH. Yao already did this!!!!!!!! in case you haven't noticed. This is the american way of thinking and in the case of his body type it show a distinct lack of knowledge. Infact Yao is trying to loose body weight and come back to 295lbs. Last nigh was a most terrible game for Yao Ming and most likely he will learn from all the many mistakes he made. Also Coach 'A' has to reduce his mins. and get a decent back up center.
I think that he is stronger enough physically, but mentally he is still weak. if he just miss a few shots here and there, then you can see that he is going to be got lost and do not know how to do next, that is not a good sign for a superstar.
so many threads on yao but no one really pointed out the really thing from last nite game. last nite loss is absolutely yao's fault. after he committed 2nd foul, he was not him anymore. he played like he walked on thin ice. this stupid 2nd foul was so cheap. i don't know why he committed. there was no chance he could block a dunk from other side of the paint but he tried and got him into trouble. btw, tmac's defense was completely melt down. where was his defense.
First of all, you can not bulk up during the season. It's not possible. No NBA player "bulks up" during the season. The demands of the game make it impossible. Plus you'd probably injure yourself. That's why they do it in the off-season. Secondly, Yao isn't going to be in last year's form for quite some time. People have to realize that. Yao will be fine, but it's going to take some time. He looks about where I figured he be after such a long layoff ( and the Olympics don't count much). He's going to take until Jan before we see the Yao of last year at least. Might be until Feb or Mar. Important thing for him is just to play and get his groove back and stay healthy. Same with T-mac. This team will gel - but not overnight.
i agree, it's not strength or desire or effort with yao. he's one of the hardest working guys in the L. but fatigue is NOT an acceptable excuse this early in the season. he just had 2 days of full rest before this boston celtics game (he doesn't seem to participate in a lot of the team's practice to rest himself) and he didn't play much in that game. that miss dunk was AFTER he came back after extended rest from the foul trouble. it's just mentality with yao. he just lost confidence after getting blocked by perkins and KG. he just wilted. it's as simple as that. yao has got to understand that when his offense suffers, don't get discouraged. do other things to help the team. it's so easy to frustrate yao and take him out of a game if you get him off to a bad start.
People overreact over one game. We are not going to go undefeated and Yao will have a bad game every once and awhile. We played a great team, in fact defending champs. I would have rather lost to them than OKC. Yao is doing just fine, it is early in the season, he will get it going soon.
I think he needs to be more consistent from 18 feet from the basket.. If he can develop this shot.. He doesn't have to worry about getting blocked while fading away from the basket.
So stupid... Yao is strong...what you are failing to acknowledge is the fact that Tom Thibaudeaux is the 1st assistant on the Celtics...and he was Yao's primary responsibility when he was here in Hou. Thibadeaux knows Yao inside and out. And created a game plan to neutralize him. Not the first time. Add in the fact that Yao had a bad night...got in early foul trouble and has played EXTREMELY large minutes in previous 3 games...not near what other big's have faced this season...and this is due to Adelman's misuse. All things weigh in here. We need a backup also...mgmt is at fault here. You people are crazy...give the guy a break once in awhile...plus coming off of a major surgery last year...may never be the same,,,but damn good. They need to learn how to use him better....but overall...looks good this season and had 1 bad night.
