    Didn't see this posted anywhere.

How about the D Chuck was putting on out there? Man he looked good. I don't care if he can't hit a lay up to save his life, we will need him in spots like this.

I thought about matching up with the Celtics the other day and had it worked out in my head.

Shane chasing and frustrating Ray Allen.

    Ron on Pierce.

    Hayes on KG.

Then you could also have Mac and maybe Yao in. Either way, if you needed to give them a halt on scoring, this would be it.

Additionally, I think Ron should've been put on Allen a little earlier. That could have been the difference in the game. I know Pierce is good and made some plays on Mac, but its a better match up and Tracy had a couple of good defensive plays on hiim.

Its weird to feel this good after a home loss, but I like our chances.

    Again good job by Chuck.

Chuck's D is amazing, but you can not play Chuck with Rafer...having 2 guys on the floor that the other team can flat out ignore in our offensive sets...is a massive liability.

Chuck had the best +/- of any Rocket. Without his defense, we likely lose by double digits.

Artest's defense on Pierce was great, too. His shooting was awful though. At least he played one side of the ball well and got to the line when his shot wasn't falling. That's the beauty of having a great two way player.

Chuck usually has a tough time with KG, but he did a good job this game. Garnett is just so good at hitting those turn around jumpers that Chuck likes to force.

I'm surprised Chuck's gotten as many minutes as he has this season. I honestly didn't think he'd be getting more than a few minutes a game, but I also assumed we'd have another backup C on the tema. I also expected Landry to be more consistent and productive, but he's struggled with foul trouble and has had his problems on the defensive end.

In my opinion, the Rockets still need better defensive rebounding on the floor when Yao isn't in the game. When our PFs are forced to play center, we've had a tough time securing those defensive boards. Clearly starting PG and that backup C spot are the two holes in our rotation right now.

What chuck did tonight was take KG's dribble penetration out. usually KG kills his opponents by his superior speed off the dribble. he would either get an easy dunk or he'll go to the free throw line. due to chucks lateral movement and agility, KG could do neither.

I know I shouldn't necessarily contribute to this thread, since I am far from unbiased... but you want to know my favorite Hayes defensive play?

Ron and Chuck ended up in a pick and roll situation in the second quarter and Chuck switched off onto Paul Pierce. Chuck motioned for Ron to stay with I believe it was Big Baby (may have been Powe I can't remember exactly) and he took on Pierce.

Pierce tries to take Chuck on a dribble post up sort of move and Chuck just shut him down. Paul ended up taking an off balance jumper that was way off and we rebounded.

    Oh? I wouldn't have guessed... :D

Chuck Hayes is a baller on all accounts. I just wish he had a little more on the offensive end. His FTs don't need to change. They are priceless...

You should definitely contribute, in my opinion. Chuck was arguably are best player tonight. Some people won't understand that but I have no doubt about it.

We have several problems to address but Chuck Hayes is not one of them. He is a real asset and I see that more clearly each and every game.

Our team defense, other than a couple of players, is pathetic right now. While the Celtics clogged the paint and made us work for every shot, we were allowing them to find gaping holes in our defense and get easy buckets.

We shot more and better from the line. We were better from behind the arc (other than maybe taking too many). We protected the ball better.

We didn't run our offense well compared to the Celtics, though. Still too much one on one basketball. Not enough movement to create space.

McGrady isn't moving enough without the ball. He just stands on the perimeter more often than not, making it much easier for opponents to keep us from getting open looks. Healthy or not, that can't keep happening.

Alston simply can't hit open shots and that is true more than ever to start this season.

Barry's defense is weak but he is fantastic at the other end.

Landry will be fine despite disappearing for stretches so far.

Scola had a fine game but still needs to improve his finishing. He makes simple things difficult far too often. He always needs to work on his defense and positioning.

Yao started out strong but I think the foul trouble took him out of the game as did the quick feet and physical play of the Celtics' frontcourt.

Hayes is one of the best defender in the league for his size, he had a superior IQ for defense. With Battier chasing Allen, Artest on Pierce and Chuck on KG we should have won with our suffocating D!

    I'll sum it up:

Chuck gives me the most confidence in forcing an opposing player into a miss. Period. better than ron artest. better than shane battier.
