I know that there are so many threads in the D&D, but I can't resist the urge to start a thread.. The speech that I just heard is by far the most touching thing I have ever heard.. at no time in my entire life had anyone affected me to the point of me crying, but this speech has.. no words can describe the feeling I had whenever "yes we can" we repeated.. I have never experienced chills this intense. call me dramatic, call me whatever you want, but if that speech didn't affect you, you're not human/you're Chuck Norris..
I think to put it simple: I believe that Americans have become more patriotic and unified, as a whole, within the last hour.
History in the making.... Honestly, I voted for Obama but thought the speech wasn't what it could be. That's not to say it wasn't impressive but it was just a little flat. That being said, the history of the moment pretty much ensured that that speech will be remembered by all.

Eh, it was ho-hum overall (and I voted Obama). It didn't get good at all before he brought up the old lady. That was really good. But honestly, the guy's given better speeches. I was comparatively just as impressed, if not moreso, by McCain's concession speech.
lol, dude, that's exactly me my entire life.. I've always thought "happy crying" or any other form of non-sadness-related crying was bogus, but this is the first my eyes watered upon hearing someone speak, I was shocked myself, it was involuntary..
I teared up. Our POTUS-to-be has a great command of the magnitude of this moment when looking back over major historical events in our nation. He may be more than just what the nation needs... I pray our nation does as a whole... there are still idiots out there.
"This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change." "And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too."
I liked his speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 the best. That "I am my brother's keeper" was bone chilling. I can't wait to hear his inauguration speech!
I think it was the background music they started playing afterward. I swear it was in a Disney movie from the 90s. Can't think of which one it was right now.
I was pretty disappointed by the speech, given the gravity of the moment. It wasn't bad by any means, but not nearly what I was expecting or what he's capable of. It started getting pretty good at the end and then he finished it. Oh well.
Simply put, everything has been great tonight (except the game). It will be easier to analyze after a little time passes.
