Surely you must know some of "those" people who just don't get British Humour. Oh well. Their loss.

Yeah, the Muppets kick ass. I've got the theme song saved as mp3...great stuff.

I think SNL has really gotten better in the last few years. Or maybe it was never bad and I just wasn't paying attention. Either way, I really enjoy it.

Mr Show with Bob and David was the best (can't wait for Run Ronnie, Run)

The Upright Citizens Brigade was hilarious. The video store sketch where the guy claimed to have the title line in Star Wars, and the poo-stick sketch may have been to of the funniest sketches I have ever seen.

    Monty Python.

SNL used to be great, but it has gone to hell in the last five years or so. It's not worth watching after the second sketch.

you're missing probably the best Weekend Update hosts ever. Tina and Jimmy are hilarious.

    outlaw,
I think you forgot a couple of the earlier hosts:
    Dennis Miller
    Norm MacDonald

unless you didn't watch SNL until Colin Quinn had taken over.

Yeah, I vaguely remember that show. I only watched the first episode, but I don't think it lasted much longer than that anyway. It was pretty hit-and-miss, but I do remember one skit that was pretty funny...it was a game show called "The Blame Game" or something like that, and the contestants would blame some group for some problem in the world. The final bonus round was called "Blame it on the Jews" and was very easy until a trick question about a certain double-murder..."blame it on the juice" :p (I guess that pretty much dates the show  ).

Overall, my favorites are SNL (although it has gone up and down over the years) and The State. I'm all about Barry and Levon!

Good call on these shows, Hydra. Has anyone mentioned SCTV? This show had, at various times, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin, and the guy-who-was-Bob-Mackinzie-and-later-played-the-dad-in-the-lame-Honey-I-shrank-the-kids-movies-but-was-really-great-in-this-yet-I-can't-for-the-life-of-me-remember-his-name. Awesome show!

Actually, I do find the weekend update funny, and I usually watch the show in hopes of it being one of the rare good episodes.

The performers are great. The writing stinks.

SCTV was awesome - some of it did not translate well to America though.

All my favorites have already been said. Monty Python, Kids in the Hall, The State and particularly Upright Citizens Brigade.

The UCB cancellation particularly pissed me off, because that show was so well done. It only had 4 people who starred in it, but all were hilarious, and all had the perfect range to do any skits they needed. Comedy Central severely pissed me off when they cancelled that show. The "Thunderball" episode was my favorite. Whoever came up with that sport has a brain that works on the same wavelength as mine. :D

"This is the sound a dog makes....Mr. Connery."
    "Moo."
    "No."
"Well, that's the sound your mother made last night."

For the benefit of Dimsie and Elvis, who are only coming to appreciate the artistic merits of the Great White North, I must point out that SCTV (the televised version) and The Kids in the Hall are both Canadian groups. *applause* *cheering*

Another group that hasn't been mentioned is the Goodies. British humour that just killed me.

There was a show from Seatle called "Almost Live" and it had some pretty funny guys. Had Bill Nye on before he became the "Science Guy."

That has got to be some of the funniest sh*t I have ever seen.

I really liked Tobey Maguire as Keaunu Reaves on Jeopardy.

I watch SNL religously. #1 show of all time. Been watching since I was old enough to sit up. "Gilda Wadna" was probably my first words! I loved the Coneheads.

    #2 In Living Color

#3 Mr Show (first and second seasons on sale 06/11/02!)
