From a chemistry standpoint I wouldn't trade for Dwight, but it's hard to argue that Yao is better. From a stat perspective Dwight is clearly superior.
But the attention they command is clearly different.
Dwight can be single covered effectively as Sheed/Mcdyess showed last year in the playoffs.
Yao simply dominates everyone in the post, but I don't think we're as effective as we should be when he has to pass out of those doubles..hopefully this year we will.

How about a 7 game series with Orlando to settle this.

Dwight can't make a basket once he is out of his dunking range and that type of limitation will haunt him once he is on a physical decline.

Will Yao even show up? The OP already took a dump on everyone here just like the way Boozer did with Yao.

You took a dump on everyone? ROFL. Yeah right, look in a mirror and repeat that to yourself 10,000 times. Maybe a fool like you will believe that it's true eventually. Even the grandma of my buddy could tell you had been owned by everyone in this thread, fair and square. Looks like the only thing you can do now is making mindless posts. Talking about feeling helpless, LOL. Why don't you just end the debate by honestly telling us how the dumps tasted?

I'm glad some people understand what I'm talking about. You make a great analogy yourself with Brady/Manning vs. Vick. In any sport or aspect of life, people HAVE to have substance. Look at hollywood. Looks, a sex tape, or a crazy stunt will get you a little bit of fame and hype at first, but at the end of the day, if you want to be an actor that will be remembered for years, you have to have substance, because those looks will go away eventually...then what are you left with??

I know yall might be thinking hollywood and sports have nothing in common, but its true in anything we do in our lives. Whatever you do physically will only last so long. Our smarts and skills will last us much longer than any physical gift we have.

Michael Jordan had MANY highlights, dunks, commercials, shoes, fame, you name it, he had it. But the thing people will remember him for is the fact that he was a winner. Even when he was 35, and not that athletic as he once was, he was still the most popular player on the planet. His game wasn't just razzle dazzle and flashiness. It was pure substance. When he felt bored, he would have fun...but his game survived because of his skills he had. How many 35 year old guards with another hall of fame bound player on his team could average 30 ppg? I can't even fathom that right now.

I have no hate against Dwight Howard. If we could bring him here as our power forward, I would be all for it, as long as we keep Yao. All I'm saying is, looking at any sport or any aspect of life, the physical gifts will go away with age or other unfortunate events (injuries, drugs, etc..).

Dwight is one of the most gifted athletes to ever play this game, but what happens when he has a major surgery? Ask Grant Hill. Ask Penny Hardaway. Ask David Robinson. Those guys were the best athletes at their position heading into the late 90's. All it took was one surgery to change that in an instant.

DRob never recovered from an athletic standpoint. He was never 1/2 of his old self when he won titles. Luckily he had bball IQ, post up moves, and a good jumper.

Grant Hill was hall of fame bound, and was ready to take the torch from Jordan, but one ankle surgery led to many and many missed games, and age along with injury caught up with him. He never recovered. He is still a solid role player though. He and Tmac were supposed to be the next Jordan and Pippen in Orlando, but it never happened.

Penny Hardaway was the most gifted pg since Magic Johnson, but a few injuries took it all away, and he can't get back into the league. He relied heavily on his athleticism and explosion. Even with his great passing, he can't find a job in the NBA.

I hope Dwight doesn't get hurt, because he is fun to watch. Thats what he'll be remembered for if he doesn't imporve his game. People will forget that Drob was on his way to being the best center in the league b4 he got injured. People forget that he was an MVP. People forget that he was on the original Dream Team. People forget that he scored 71 points in a game.

People forget that Grant Hill was putting up Oscar Robertson like #'s in the 90's, and that he was a point forward who could put up 25 ppg with ease, without a 3 point shot.

People forget that Penny was so skilled that he would give Jordan and Pippen fits at times, and that he was a 6'7 point guard who could post up small forwards, or cross over small point guards, and had a nice jumper and could finish with authority at the rim.

If something were to happen to Dwight, he'll be remembered as Superman at the dunk contest. He'll be remembered as another Jonathan Bender. Great athlete, but no substance or game to compliment it. His 20/20 #'s will be forgotten in an instant. Lets have this discussion again in 7 years and see how "dominant" Dwight Howard is compared to Yao. I'll take 10-12 years of consistent high production over a few years of inflated production because of athleticism. If people want to call it better, then so be it, they won't win with Dwight Howard as a # 1 option in a tough conference. Yao is a championship caliber center, Dwight Howard is not.

    Dwight Howard is overrated.

He is only a role player in Team USA.

Dwight Howard isn't even the leader on his team and look at his head to head games against Yao.

The definition of their head to head games is ownage by Yao Ming.

I am speechless. You sounds like you had been hoping for this moment so you can come over to get back at everyone who has dumped on you in this thread. Celebrating after our tough loss? What a moron you are.

When Dwight Howard has a bad game next, I want to see what you Yao haters have to say.

Yao is still #1. Wow, one bad game tonight and you guys are acting like fools.
