were are NOT gunna trade francis, mobley, or griffin they are the future. btw if u trade mobley this offseason (which we'd never do thank god) then theres no way francis would sign a extension people dont get that here
I'd trade either one of them for Ben Wallace in a heart beat. Would Garnett, Duncan, and Shaq have trouble for the next ten years getting shots off against Wallace and Griffin? I think so.
It is time to start blaming the players for the outcome of this season. They have no flow to their offensive sets. Trade both of them while there stock is high. Get what you can an develop an offensive that makes it eazier to score!I'm tried of the one-on-one!
I'd rather have a low post threat than Mobley. It would serve Steve,Rudy and the rockets better.trade cat and kt for ratliff and draft Wagner. Or draft a big guy and let Cat know he's the third option period no argument.
What makes you think he's overrated? Because I would trade Francis for him? Wallace leads the league in rebounding and blocks. What is Steve leading the league in, turnovers?
Francis has an off year and you're willing to trade him for Dennis Rodman 2 with shot blocking skills? pfft. Ben is an excellent role-player, but he isn't worth Francis or Mobes. Dude can't score to save his life. And don't forget he plays in the Eastern confernce. He's going to dominate against Shaq, Duncan, and KG? please. hey Fortson leads the league in rpm, lets trade Mobes for him.
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know how good or how valuable you were depended soley on scoring and if you didn't throw up 20+ shots a game you were considered a role player. I think I would rather have a player that gives his team second chance points and 5 extra possesions a game through blocks and steals rather than have a player that turns the ball over 4 times a game. Steve's having an off year? I guess every year is an off year since he's dishing out more assists than ever, rebounding more than ever and scoring more than ever, in fact, the only thing that has dipped this year has been his shooting percentage and with some of the shots he throws up, I see why. Will he dominate Shaq, Duncan, and KG, well with Griffin right next to him I would like to see a team that does a better job against them defensively. But that's ok lets keep on letting our opponents shoot 46%, out rebound us, more steals than us, and to top it off, let's give them more possessions per game because our point guard can't stop turning the ball over and maybe we can get lucky next year and fight for an 8th seed.
poor defensive rebounding kills our occasional defensive efforts Steve doing so much of the rebounding kills our fast break Kidd can do it because he is a master of the outlet pass
lol, btw, cool nick and sig Penny. I do like Wallace, I just don't think he's on the same level Francis and Mobes are. Offense isn't necessarily the most important part of a franchise player but it is very important. He is a liability offensively imo, much like Mutumbo. I'd rather have a stud offensive player than a defensive specialist. And I'd rather have a stud pg than a defensive pf. Yes, I think Francis is having an off year. His stats are up a little, but between his injury and migraines and just a general overall funk recently I don't think he's been able to play up to his potential. Plus even if we did make that trade? start Mooch? ugh. Have KT + Mo + Cato get little next to no minutes? I fail to see how that trade would help the Rockets into becomming an 8th seed, let alone become a contender. The only way I see the Rocks becoming contenders right now are: - if Francis, Mobes and Griff step up their games. - the Rocks land a key free agent or draft a player who turns out to be a great roleplayer, like Detroit did with Wallace, and add it to our existing nucleus.
Hey Crisco, when I talked about this trade, I was thinking it included the other trade I posted about on another thread. On the other thread I included a Kenny T + our lottery pick for Gary Payton. No way would I do the deal without having a very good replacement for Steve and I agree, Moochie isn't it. Straight up Francis for Wallace, I wouldn't do. Straight up Francis for Wallace if we had someone like Payton to take his place, I would do. My fault, I should have been more clear.
No prob Penny, I was a lil quick to break out the rolleyes myself. It just seems like people have just started to drool over this guy cuz of his performance on National tv last week. I mean, the dude had a hell of a season last year too and he was hardly mentioned. And he is a stud defensive player, but I don't think he brings as much to the table as a Francis or McGrady. That would be a hell of a defensive team with Payton, Wallace, and Griff, the only thing that would suck is that when Griff really starts into his good years, GP would be gone. Maybe for a younger pg that would be a longterm solution to go with Wallace + Griff? Like say Detroit gets Francis + Jumaine Jones, Cleveland gets KT + Houston 1st rounder + Mooch Houston gets Andre Miller + Wallace + Rodney White Still, I think it'd be best just to keep our team pretty much the same and try to find a gem like Wallace to add without giving up our stars. Like finding someone who may be undervalued, like an Etan Thomas, or a sleeper in no one's radar, like Oz was. But if Ming is the real deal, all bets are off, lol. Get him at any cost.
I think Trading Francis is a becoming real possibility. Take what Stevie said yesterday with his headache issues and the fact that there seems to be some cracking in the Rocket's ship right now and whammy! You get a Francis for 2-3 players trade....never say never!
Judging by the article regarding Francis' desire to leave, he would prefer to have Mobley gone...i dont know who else he would be talking about when he sid that "we have too many dribblers" I guarantee that if he leaves, he will say one of the things that pissed him off the most is not attempting to land Webber and settling for Mo T. THIS SUCKS
<quote>Like say Detroit gets Francis + Jumaine Jones, Cleveland gets KT + Houston 1st rounder + Mooch Houston gets Andre Miller + Wallace + Rodney White </quote> Ummmm, Cleveland would get raped in that deal. They give up their 2 best young players for a 1st rounder and 2 role players. If we got the 1st pick in the draft this could possibly happen, but that's the only scenario I see this working possibly every working under. I do like Wallace though and would like to see him come here. Roleplayer is not a label I'm afraid of. After all, its better to have guys that realize they're roleplayers average players thinking they're MJ (Mooch and Cat to a lesser extent).
Ummmm, if you say so. I don't see what the fascination with Jumaine is. He's a good backup with potential at best. I'd rank him behind Murray, Mihm, a healthy Diop and Ilgauskas, and even Tyrone Hill. In fact, just throw in one of those other players that I think are better than Jones if you think he's that good. Nothing more than spare parts to me. And if Houston gets the #1, they wouldn't let it go for a trade like that. I'd rather just keep the team intact though.
I love what Ben Wallace brings to the table, but I think he's getting a little overrated based on his stats. He is what he is - a guy who rebounds great, blocks shots, plays with energy and hustle, and can't hit a free throw to save his life. His rebound #s are inflated, though. Who else on that team can rebound? The next best rebounder on the team is Uncle Cliffy with less than 5 per game. I wouldn't do that deal from a Rockets perspective. If I'm Cleveland, I might do it. They have to be getting scared that Andre Miller will walk at the end of his contract. A high-lottery pick would give them a guy guaranteed to be there through the next several years of their rebuilding process.
