Amen. The Cavs have sucked all 3 years Miller has played for them, and the Cavs play in the weakest confrence in the East. Decent numbers for a crappy team in a crappy division doesnt hold much weight with me.
Forget the numbers. The acid test is this: When you watch him play, do you say "I wish that guy were wearing pajamas!"
Does anyone understand when you figure out his avg assists per minute, then multiple by 48 Miller could easily avg 18 assist per night??? I mean comeon guys............. Anyways, I agree, keep the Franchise, change the offensive system
Kidd got a lot of hype in Dallas his first few years. There was a bunch of pressure for him, Jackson, and Mash to perform. They didn't so they got broken up. Anyone want to take that chance on Francis, Mobley, Griffin, KT ??? I would only trade Francis for Shaq, Kidd, or Duncan.
Those six players are the only ones I would trade for Francis. Seriously, I think some people do not appreciate Francis enough. I get frustrated at times when I see Francis with his dumb mistakes, but he's a keeper. He's young and still has tremendous upside. He's shown this year he can play when he is healthy. It's easy for people to bash Francis while he's injured. Andre Miller is also over rated by some on this board. If Miller came here next year, I could see some people bash him and nitpick him.
IT'LL NEVER HAPPEN. Whether u like it or not Francis is here for the long run. Some of u say u are tired of losing and want to bring in another player cause he passes more. **** that! It took the Boston Celtics a decade to rebuild, the Chicago Bulls are still rebuilding after five years, and don't get me started on the LA ClipJoint. Point is...it's been 3 years for us and the second year was damn good with 45 wins. They are in the right direction we just need to let them grow into their roles and stop bashing the "True LEADER" of this team. So Hey...if ur so "HIGH" on andre then pack up ur **** and move to Cleveland and while ur there tell Drew Carey i said sup.
The problem with Francis is that he doesn't know if he wants to be a distributor, or a scorer. Right now, he's a "tweener" when this team clearly needs him to either be a score-first PG, or a pass-first PG. Until Francis makes this transition, we will be mired in mediocrity.
That is somewhat true, but I think the new Zone rules are allowing the Defenses to shutdown the Rockets ability to drive. Last year Mobley could take anyone off the dribble, this year he is settling for his jumper. Same with Francis. Although I really like how Francis is shooting (when healthy). We really have to get a low post game to open up our driving/3 pt shooting. I think KT is starting to open that up. Eventually I see Steve as a Payton/Brandon hybrid. He will be able to lead the team in scoring when needed, but otherwise distribute the rock. Probably avg 15-20pts, 7-9 assist, 6-7reb.
The Rockets don't need to trade Francis for Miller, losing Steve's scoring would be more devastating than you think. What they need is a 3 who can handle the ball and help direct the offense. Francis is a great scorer with slightly above average point guard skills. A 3 that could share point guard duties with Francis on the offensive end could increase his scoring and playmaking ability. Look at how well it has worked in Portland with Pippen sharing the point guard role with Stoudamire and both Wells and Stoudamire playing off the ball. I'm not crazy about the idea of getting Lamar Odom but getting a well rounded three with some leadership ability would be a better solution that trading Steve for a more true PG IMO.
-Hilarious. McGrady is about five times the player as Stevie "5 TO per game, 40% FG" "Franchise" AND he is about 10000 times the defender that Francis is. -Francis does NOT make people around him better, is a horrible PG in terms of actually setting up his teammates, plays NO defense whatsoever, hasn't led his team to the playoffs in 3 years, and yet you say he's better than McGrady, who is a bonafide MVP candidate? Francis bball IQ stinks. The Rockets would be wise to trade him. McGrady is just as good as Kobe. I can't believe some of the hardcore homers on this board.
Isn't it the job of the point guard to BREAK DOWN the defense and create opportunities for his team? Good point guards are neither shoot-first or distributors, they are opportunists that take what they make the defense give them. If left with the good shot the PG takes it. If someone else is left open through failed help or poor rotation on the part of the defense, the PG is supposed to move the ball to that person for the open shot. It's not that complicated. I know this is the NBA and everything, but sometimes things are just made overly-complicated. I don't see enough Rocket games to know what Francis does. It could be he is just selfish or it could be that the team doesn't provide him with enough scoring options. That's why we particularly miss MoT and Hakeem. They could both finish if given the basketball in a timely fashion.
Sometimes the peices just don't fit. Stevie has great skills but he has not shown he has the abilityu to carry a team. 45 wins last year was nice, but guess what we weren't one of the 8 best teams in the West. That means even with our "super star" player that at least 8 other teams were better than us in the West. Super Stars find ways to carry their teams. Stevie has super star ability but he has yet to carry a team anywhere. At the same time Miller has done the same thing as Francis, led a poor team in statistics but not to the playoffs. So he is not necessarily a proven player or a super star either. However I think it would be a good trade for both teams if we could add a future 1st round pick or pick up one of their centers (Mihm) for Mo-T in the deal. I don't know if the numbers would work but straight up I probably wouldn't do it, but if we could add something else I would definetely do it.
Agreed. But my main point was that the Cavalier's record has slowly gotten worse the three years Andre "the savior" Miller has been in the league. Granted they don't have hardly any talent, and I wouldn't expect them to be a winning team. But shouldn't they at least be taking baby steps to becoming a better team if Andre was such a difference maker? Yes, they should. What can I say...about .500 with Steve and about .000 without Steve. And the Cavs missing Miller would probably have the same effect on their team, but all I could say is .300 with Miller and around .000 without Miller. Did I mention the Cavs play in the eastern conference? As far as I know, not many people complained about Steve very much at all last season. You wanna know why? Because he played a lot better last season. He made better decisions, he made alot more of the shots he took, and from what I can see, played better defense. How was he ever going to get in a rhythm this season when he had no idea when his next migraine was going to strike? I think some Rockets fans are just so infuriated with this season that they're not really thinking straight and its causing them to be extremely hasty. Then those of you saying Steve isn't focused on winning or doesn't care that much. Have you ever tried running and jumping while you had a migraine? Give me a break. Steve played a couple games through pain, and the emotion he shows on the court definitely shows much he wants to win and how much he hates losing. Steve's a competitor and a franchise player. Y'all are going to be eating your words next season when a healthy Rockets team puts up a winning record, and Andre is once again leading the Cavs to 30 wins. I guarantee it.
Just for the Record. Trace McGrady is definitely a superstar, but if the Magic were in the West would they have made the playoffs? Nope. And for God sakes, it was only Steve's second season, and you would think about trading him because he doesn't meat your definition of a superstar? That's the same thing Jerry Krause must have said when he traded Elton Brand.
Rudy likes Francis and he's not going to go anywhere for at least several years. If we continue lose games like we are 3 years from now I guarantee that Francis will be traded because of our lack of improvement will reflect on him and Mobley not being able to take us to the next level. Plus, his play this year has suffered due to his migranes. In the games where he was feeling good he has exceled.
As many bonehead plays as Stevie makes I wouldn't consider trading him! There are only a handful of players who can "take over" a game, and he is one of them. Unfortunately he is caught in a system wherein he doesn't have a coach who appears to be strong enough to get his attention or mentor him, nor does he have any veterans to learn from. He is drifting in our system. Yeah...he drives me absolutely crazy at times, and makes the game harder than it needs to be. Sometimes I honestly think he would rather make the spectacular play than simply win However, you don't "give up" on an impact player like Steve. You do whatever is necessary to help him make better on-court decisions, and help him simplify the game. Dallas Rocket
