Wouldn't it be great if Rudy could show off his great coaching skills this summer and lure either Tim Duncan or Grant Hill to the Rockets on a 1-year contract? That would be awesome.

And they know they are gonna get paid after Hakeem retires. So I think they might doit.

    Bye

Not a bad idea but I don't think it will happen. However we did get Barkley b/c he enjoyed playing w/ Hakeem in the '96 games.

    Who's binary boy.

If you like 1's and 0's so much, you should try looking into Hill's eyes. Note how he has them ordered properly...the 1 comes before the 0, with many to follow.

Hill might sign a one-year...but only for the maximum salary of $9m (which we can't afford)...so he can resign as a 7+ player.

Do you really think players that young are stupid enough not to take the maximum when every team in the league is willing to pay them? You ever hear of career-ending injuries? Just because Barkley took a $1m in the twilight years to go for a ring, you think kids without a Barkley fortune are going to foresake that. dreamer...

I love posts that start..."Wouldn't it be great."

    lol heypard,
calm down - look at his post number!

    110,
i thought about that too when i first heard about Rudy coaching the squad.

Maybe, just maybe, his caoching style will strike a chord with Hill, Duncan, or whoever, and that player will want to have him as a coach in the future. Maybe the players will hate him(why?). Then again, maybe not.

Whatever the case, dont look for any superstar to sign with the Rockets this offseason cuz they have no money rite now.

I know the post number...But I'm like Bobby Knight; "Kids aren't here to learn contract bridge." I demand the most out of even first posts.

Crisco, I tried to use my fart *, but couldn't remember the password.

Why would Duncan or Hill sign a small contract with the Rockets, waiting for the big contract when Hakeem retires, when they can get the money now.

Sorry, but it's not even a remote possibility. You'd have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Unfortunately I disagree with HP. Older veterans will adjust their games to fit into a new system (like Clyde & Charles did), but I think a young, top tier star will go to a team that complements his game, not a team where he made need to fit into another system. Duncan will go to a team where he is the man and there are complementery players around him, not another young star (Francis). Duncan may fit into a system where there is a veteran star who takes a lesser role (like K. Malone in Utah- even though that would never happen), or a team that currently already runs a DIT offense (like the Heat with Mourning).
I know I am a pessimist but I don't see Duncan coming here. I do think Grant Hill would be a much better fit whose role would be complimentary to our motion offense and with Francis.

    dang you guys are ruthless.

01-10 is right, this is great exposure. The Rockets' coach has the best athletes in the world in captive audience. As these athletes become free agents, if not now, then within the coming years, don't you want them thinking positively about the Rockets' organization?

Tim Duncan vs. Grant Hill. For some reason, it seems alot more plausible to dream about Duncan vs. Hill.

Duncan's younger: so is our team. If he wants to be a part of something special, that in itself may help. Hell, it and Mrs. Alexander's no-gelatin rules worked on Shandon Anderson.

Duncan's a post up player: I believe that Rudy knows a thing or two about this. For those that are scared of the return of DIT, just be assured that our guards' play will be beyond that next year -
    ((Clyde.getSkills() + Matt.getSkills().getAbsoluteValue()) < (Shandon.getSkills() + Steve.getSkills()))

Players have requested to be traded to certain teams before (I can think of 5+ this year). It's not impossible to think that Tim may request something be done w/ the Spurs, a very old team (is 2 firsts, Cato and Mobley too much? I would think that it's alot better than most of the offers out there).

    Achebe,

the problem with this Shandon-took-less-pay argument is that Duncan has been paid more than Shandon's new contract his whole career. He's not taking a middle-class exemption.

Even if we can talk him down from his top-shelf $9m value to say $5m, we can't free that money as a pure free agent play. If he wants to play with Francis, he can probably force a sign-n-trade. That we can manage at $9m thanks to our $4.5...but we'd be trading the farm, which is fine with me.

Honestly though, what makes all this tiring to me is that Webber is coming out the summer of Dream's retirement. I'd be perfectly happy with him as well. That's more likely, because it can be a pure free agent play...that's a lot of time to work out deals to get below the cap.

As long as Francis forces Rudy to play more motion that highlight's SFs ability to get other's involved, there will be big men who want to play with him.
