perfect trade i would do that in a heartbeat.to replace all those bricks thrown up by rafer with makes would be great, and a 6'5 point guard would shut down smaller ones i love that trade

Stupid trade. We're giving up the 2nd tallest guy on the team. We're already small up front as it is and you want to add insult to injury.

Face it folks, we're NOT getting Kirk Hinrich. He's NOT WORTH what we have to give up.

Let's not go through the same cycle we go through every year again. At some point in the season we ALWAYS rant on about how Rafer can't shoot and that he should be traded. And then whenever he's out for a couple of games, we see how badly the offense executes without him, and suddenly everyone wants him back and calls him the MVP of this team.

Rafer is just who he is. He has a role to play on this team, which is being the facilitator on offense. The offense runs much better when he is on the floor. It's too bad though that he's not a great shooter. But at least he doesn't take a high volume of shots. And he doesn't need to shoot a lot for us to win. The only times when he shoots is when he's supposed to shoot, being wide open at the three point line. So, its not like he's just jacking up shots.

And occasionally, he does go on hot streaks. Remember that we probably wouldn't have won 22 in a row if it weren't for his 8 threes against the Lakers. So when he does shoot well, it only helps us. And when he doesn't shoot well, it won't break our team. We have other players on this team that'll score and make up for his shooting.

The trade I proposed would allow the Rockets to sign Deke without incurring a luxury tax.

So far early in the season, from my POV, it seems like the Rockets offense has actually run better with Brooks on the court than with Alston.

I have been very impressed with Brooks. The guy is quick as a cat and can actually drive it to the lane unlike Alston.

At best, Alston is average. At best. There's nothing wrong with average. Every good team needs average because you aren't going to have 5 above average players on the court at the same time. But a lot of times, Alston is just bad. If he were just a PG who took 5 shots a game, I would be happy. But the guy tries too often to be a scorer on the court. That's not who he is, but he tries anyway.

Sure, when Alston is on he looks great. But for every great game he has he has 2 below average ones to go with it. I hope Adelman limits his minutes this season so we can see more of Brooks.

    Hop off.

Rafer can hit those 3's. This will make the defense have to jump off of the TMac / Yao / Artest double team.

Plus, once he starts hitting 'em, game over the opposing team. So give him some time to regain his stroke... it's not like we need it right now, c'mon we are 3-0.

because if he never shoots, then the other team will have an extra defender all day.

I think Alston needs to take more shots per game to get out of this slump.

    NOT!

As of right now, Alston is for sure a better at directing the offense than Brooks is. You have to look at the small details of the game to see what Rafer really does. He makes sure people are at the right place on offense (i.e. if on a post play to Yao, he'll direct player movement so that Yao gets a good entry pass lane). It's unnoticeable stuff like that which make Rafer a better floor general. The same can be said on defense. He'll play solid team defense without committing many mistakes and taking gambles.

I'm excited as everyone else about Aaron Brooks. He's is the perfect catalyst off the bench that'll give you energy, scoring, and still be able to make plays for others. But in terms of being a solid floor general and defender every single night, he's still a work in progress in that area. It would be great if Aaron does refine his point guard abilities because he is more talented than Rafer in several other areas like shooting, athleticism, and quickness.

Well...if its like last year where Rafer started the season just as wretchedly, expect a BIG win streak later in the season when he heats up ;)

bad deal on trading rafer. no one can run the offense set plays like rafer (on the rockets). brooks needs time to develop iq....rafer is still the best option but shouldnt be jackn shots like that.

Yeah, I remember the panic last year when he started off just as dismally. But ended the year with his best shooting percentage as a Rocket from the field.

Rafer 'jacked' up 2 shots against OKC, and one was a common 'PG off the pick wide open 18 footer' that he was hitting last year. The other was an ill advised three pointer(again off the pick though) early in the shot clock.

Rafer either shoots he's wide wide wide open , or it's 23rd sec and he's still with the ball

how about you don't yell at all. Just turn your volume up and listen to the commentators and the sound of the ball hitting the rim. "Rafer for 3!!!!!" "CLANK!!!!!'' "CLANK!!!!!!"

Have to keep the faith that Rafer's shot will start going down. Keep the team together but need to bring back Deke.
