He's changed his tune and now downplays Dorsey's expectations for this season. Between Yao, Scola, Landry, Chuck and the option of Ron getting spot minutes at PF, nothing is left for Dorsey except scrub time. Of course, the Rockets have to play well enough for there to be a scrub time.

They should send him to the NBDL to get him some playing time....he needs to work on a lot of things.

Morey said it on 610 the day preseason started - it's in a thread here somewhere. Dorsey may be ready to play but the fact is we have better options available and that's what Morey was referring to.

Ah, he must really be sucking at practice? He just seemed such a good defensive player in college

We should give those Ron spot minutes to Dorsey and keep Ron at the 3 and 2.

I still think he can give Yao a couple minutes more to rest. He is risking too much.

Landry wasn't special in summer league or preseason. In fact he was less special there than Dorsey. It was garbarge time that we saw Landry fake, and dunk a ball without a run up, and immediately we say "that dude got hops". That was the starting point of Landry's roleplayer career, one impressive move, then RA decided to try him out in a game, and Landry got a few dunks despite his size, and his double pump layups to dodge blocks is something special.

I guess RA liked Landry because he was humble and a hard worker. I don't know about Dorsey, but he seems to overrate himself. No coach likes a second round pick that makes himself seem like a second coming of a great player without even playing a minute in NBA yet.

Landry was killing people in practice for several months. That's why he got a chance. Dorsey does not have the same skill set that Landry had. He seems like a more athletic, less intelligent Chuck Hayes. NBDL sounds like a great place for Dorsey right now.

Didn't Landry get PT because of an injury to someone else?

Really? I thought Mike Harris had PT because Landry was hurt. Our PFs were relatively healthy last year pre Landry explosion stage. If I remember correctly Landry's hops hyped up his game, and he also had a decent mid range jumper as well. I forgot how he got his first game, but I do remember his first game was a good one.

Rick currently manages a very squeezed rotation. He should play more players out.

Before commenting, I'll admit that Dorsey is my least favorite Rocket. I think he's an undisciplined idiotic moron.

On the topic: Dorsey is not a bright guy. If you saw him in college, you know that. He is also moody and can have a sorry attitude. Both of these together mean that it will take him a while to learn the NBA game. The last thing the Rockets need is a completely clueless foul machine on the floor. What works in college against kids doesn't work in the NBA. If/when Dorsey learns to play intelligently, he might get some time. Until then, wait for a blowout and he'll get his 5-6 minutes out there to finish up a game. Inserting him in truly competitive situations wouldn't serve any purpose except to disrupt whatever chemistry the Rockets have for the 2 minutes he's out there. I doubt if he ever understands much of Adelman's offense for whatever amount of time he's a Rocket.

I'll be happy to eat crow but it won't happen this time. Dorsey will be 25 next month but his maturity level is about 16.

Well, if you don't play him at least several minutes, how do you expect him to grow? No one is a born star, but you can play your way to stardom. It's ridiculous that he can be a better NBA player if he spends the whole season sitting on the bench

I dont think he'll get much time, even if theres garbage time.

I think he might be sent to D-league for a bit.

This rarely happens though cause Rockets always play down to their opponent's levels. Even Memphis and OKC gave us a decent match. So Sad......

it'd be interesting to see what a lineup with Scola, Landry, and Dorsey in at the same time would do. see what Landry can do at the 3 position. but obviously this would only be an option if we were killin the other team

    Nice reply.

Do you see him going to NBDL or maybe making a late season come back like Landry or even next year situation like Brooks. IDK, I just really wanted to see him pull off those college highlights in the big boys club. More importantly though I wanted to see Yao get some rest.

I dunno when we will see him and I frankly coil care less right now cuz the more pressing question is why is yao playing 40 mins a game?! Either we sign deke or play a smaller lineup more often. This can't continue or he will sustain an injury or he will be drained when playoffs come around.

When Shane is activated, one of three guys will go inactive: Dorsey, Wafer or Luther. I think Dorsey could be the one because Yao, Scola, Landry, Ron and Chuck are all ahead of him in the rotation. May as well send him down.

If Dorsey doesn't show enough snap this season, I think the Rockets will let him go. IMO, it's a definite if Ron is signed to a long-term deal.
