...and purchase a PS3. However, I am not too familiar with possible deals/options out there. Here's what i know so far: They have a system thats backward compatible with PS2 games. Does this mean PS2 game graphics and gameplay is improved on the PS3? and I hear its the 80 gig system that features this. Having backward compatibility is a plus but not a must for me. Im simply looking for a good price on a PS3 and preferably a system that includes 2 controllers, if possible. For someone who mostly plays sports games and who would enjoy playing online against random ppl, which system is recommended? what price range should i be looking at? are there any good deals out there right now? Any help/advice would be appreciated -Moe
For backwards compatibility you will want either the 60GB, 20GB, or 80GB versions of the PS3, these versions were released but then canceled, you will have a hard time finding them, and they can be priced higher if you are buying them from a reseller. The PS3 does not make the PS2 games' graphics improved, it does try to upscale it but IMO it is not much difference at all. They also released a 40GB PS3, this one is NOT backwards compatible, this model is discontinued. The model IN PRODUCTION are: 80GB This configuration do not have backwards compatibility either. The new 80GB version should not be confused with the old 80GB discontinued version that has backwards compatibility. I suggest going for the cheapest one you can find, I don't know of many deals out there, but the MSRP for the 80GB is $400. There is also 160GB bundle hitting stores in a few weeks, it contains 2 controllers and a game for $100 extra, it has more value than the core 80GB model.
Somewhat. The PS3 can upscale PS1/PS2 games and improve the visuals a bit, but nothing that substantial. Gameplay-wise, load times can be a bit shorter and you do get to use "virtual" memory cards instead of physical ones (in other words, you can save on the PS3's hard drive), which has been pretty useful for me. But then again, I create lots of save files and have played many PS1/PS2 games on my PS3. Some minor improvements, but nothing that major IMO.
Yes I do. Really the only games I'd play would be NBA 2k9, Madden, Maybe a tennis game, some racing games, Golf, GTA, one or 2 war games.
Dell is splurging a mega ton of 15% off coupons. Look for the coupons at Fatwallets/Slick Deals. You can purchase a pstriple for $339 and save $60 for a happy ending.
Can you give me more info on this Chow? What does Dell have to do with purchasing a PS3? Which system is for 339 and does it include a 2nd controller?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=140276909050 This one ends soon but has 3 games and xtra controller. however, is this system backward comp.??? I need a quick answer
I think so. The initial 80GB systems had 4 USB ports and flash card readers, while I believe the new ones don't (2 USB ports, no flash card reader). Wiki seems to agree: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS3#Retail_configurations Note that this isn't full BC compared to the 20GB/60GB PS3s, but it is pretty good. Besides, it will probably be a LOT harder to find those SKUs, at least for a good price.
