Yao toyed with Marc Gasol, reversed flipping in and1 and made it the play of the night.

What did Dwight do? Lost to the freaking Griz, and come to tell us Howard is the best center? You are an idiot.

This is not the golden age of centers anymore. Whether it's Howard or Yao or Bynum or anybody else, they don't really measure up to the great centers of the past. With that said, I think Yao is head and shoulders above Dwight. Dwight simply does not have a post-up game, forget about traditional center play. But being the best center in the league doesn't really mean that much. Centers just don't make or break games anymore, no matter who it is. That's why both Yao and Howard have abysmal playoff records. They are still important pieces of the puzzle, it's just they are not going to be the determining factor of winning championships.

hey, man why don't you look last season the two games how Dwight played with Yao, then you can figure out at least right now, who is best

That's a little far-fetched. Yao didn't toy with Gasol. The man had pretty decent numbers for an NBA rookie playing in his first game. In fact you could say Gasol dominated Yao on the offensive board.

With that said, I believe Yao is a better center than Howard, just not for the reasons you stated.

You gotta admit though, Hakeem was graceful yet strong at the same time. David Robinson was a freak athlete who can post up and shoot it from long range if need be. Of course, thats why they're in the Hall of Fame :D

So what if Howard can dunk over people like he was eating a cake. But can you count on it consistently during late game situations where he would likely be doubled? Yao might not be a freak athlete, but he does things that no other center currently can even match, the closest person being Tim Duncan. But he ain't 7'5 is he? The ONLY qualm I still have about Yao is that he can be easily exposed by smaller quicker players in double teams and get stripped. But thats also not partly his fault due to his size.

    So I conclude by saying
Yao>>Dwight (for now atleast, till Howard develops some semblance of a post game-then that will be reaaalllly scarry)

Pulp fiction is better than Reservoir Dogs ....... its all debatable.

Howard, once again does not come close to the appreciation Yao garners from a coach and players in the last two minutes.

Teams down by 1 with 15 sec left, who is more valuable Yao or Howard?

    Your instigation has been tamed.

Marc scored a ton of points on Scola. Yao hands down beat Marc. If you want to challenge that, show me some evidence. I can only remember Marc scored once on Yao. Did Yao's play on Marc make the play of the night?

Marc dominated Yao on offensive board? Maybe a two offensive board difference in Spain is considered a dominance, not in NBA.

Wow, I can't believe he used the argument of Dwight's free throws as an argument to show he is better. On the contrary, I think that is very reason Yao is the best center at the moment. Although Dwight has little post game, a field goal is a field goal is a field goal. Who cares if its a jump shot or a dunk? Also, Yao is what, 27 or 28 while Dwight is only 22. Yao is close to his ceiling if not already there, while Dwight could very well lead the league in scoring one that once.

At this very moment, however, I'm super glad we have Yao Ming. What an awesome start to the season!!!

This summer olympics, Chris Bosh is the only big man that team usa can depend on! Dwight Howard is far from the best!

The statement is Howard is better than Yao NOW.

Yeah, there is a unborn somewhere down the time line dominating the league as the BIG SUPER NASTY. what the point?

Please don't allow yourself to use logic like that.

I'm not arguing Yao got the better of Gasol, I'm just saying it's a stretch to say he toyed with him. The reason I think Gasol dominated Yao on the boards is because Gasol is much shorter, weighs less, not any stronger than Yao, not any more athletic than Yao, but he was still able to out-hustle, out-muscle, and out-position himself for quite a few rebounds, and tipped away many more from Yao. The play of the day was great, but that's not indicative of Yao's dominance over Gasol.
