And when the poor get taxed, where do you think that money will come from? That's right - the money they would otherwise spend at those small businesses.

Who exactly do you propose be taxed to pay for government? Or do you just believe in borrowing it from future generations?

Well you can believe basso's lies or you can find out for yourself (and by you, I am talking about the 0.0% of you out there who take him seriously):

    F.D.,

We've had some battles in the past and 95% of them have been about Israel. I know you are passionate about Finance/Economics and the middle east (something we have much in common in, although I turned my finance degree into a career in oil & gas). I've grown up quite a bit since our past battles and I must say that I do respect your opinion.

Let me preface by saying that I'm voting for Obama. I've liked his stance on Iraq from Day 1. I don't like what he has to say about Oil & Gas (eg: complaining about exploration companies not drilling on all of their leased acreage).

With all that being said, I don't understand why we must cater to the ultra-successful individuals and businesses. If we can cut government spending (McCain + the title of commander in chief = military spending through the roof) and ADJUST THE TAX BRACKETS (I capitalize this because its NOT socialism and NOT redistribution of wealth), then I don't see why we can't start to decelerate our budget deficit, if not turn it into a surplus again. Last time we had a surplus was... BEFORE THE BUSH TAX CUTS.

Personally, I'll be better off under Obama (as long as oil doesnt go down to $30 on the nymex) since I make under $200k/year.

Everyone would agree that a capitalistic system is hands down the best financial system there is. The problem is when we run into monopolies. We want competition for better goods and cheaper costs. The problem with our system is that the top 3-5% are beginning to have a monopoly on overall wealth. THIS IS NOT THE AMERICAN DREAM. The average household is making less than it did 8 years ago and the gap between the upper class and everyone else has widened. Something has to be done... and adjusting the tax brackets is one of the first places to start.

Obama made a huge mistake today in discussing economics... this could be the break the McCain campaign is looking for...

In 2002 Ayers also mistook Weezy for Sanford's departed wife, Elizabeth.

I am kinda offended he is being called black honestly. His dad was african and to the best of my knowledge not of slave heritage and he was raised by a white family in a pretty well off setting.

Reminds me of the guy in The Departed with two lives.

For the record, in his infomercial, Obama stated that the tax cuts will be for "families" making less than $200,000.

How Low Can It Go? Richardson Pegs Middle Class as Those Making Under $120,000.

For the second time in a week, a prominent Democrat has downgraded Barack Obama's definition of the middle class.

This has been discussed , yes? There is not one number fits all, as per any tax plan.
It is logical to say both: $250k and up, you will see an increase; less than $200k, a cut. That means no change for the group in $200k to $249k. We are also conflating singles, households and businesses, but oh well.

If the entire tax code can't be summed into a single sentence and one number, then communist doubletalk is afoot.

Borscht pie is really too 1960s-Soviet-Bloc. The new generation of subversive, Communist sweets are much more innocuous in appearance:

Is there a word for posting a photo that then distorts the aspect ratio of the thread?

    kpsta-ed? "I kpsta-ed that thread real good!"
