Fellow Houston hoop fans, we need to get together before the season is over and have a CC.net pickup game. How can we let the Austin fans have all the fun and we have to travel up there for the cool events? Gutter Snipe mentioned that he was interested and had an idea where we could play. How many people would be interested? I think it we be fun if we could make several 3 person teams and mix them up and try to keep the games close. Please reply if you are interested, then if there is enough interest we can try to set a time and day. B
How about during the playoffs. On Memorial Day weekend. We could make a picnic out of it; pick a park with covered hoops, frisbee golf, swimming pool...everything needed for family outings and stuff for anyone to do. hmmmmm...what park could that B, B? Moffit Park on Beltway 8 with the Olympic diving facility they built for the Junior Olympics way back when. It has an 18-hole frisbee golf course, 4 full courts (covered), the absolute BEST swimming facility in all of Houston (two huge pools, and the awesome 1 meter, 3 meter and towering 10 meter boards), and plenty of picnic area. I think the pool opens on Memorial Day weekend. Here's a map: http://www.hfds.org/courses/maps/houston_area.html Another date that comes to mind is NBA Draft Day. We could all leave the courts and go somewhere to yell at the TV and make bets on who gets picked when.
I'm in . . .. . . heyP . .. . I mean CrisP . . .u gonna work the grill i have not pull out the ole jump shot in a while. I better head back to the gym Rocket River
That location sounds great to me! Less than 5 miles from where I currently live. The only concern I have with Memorial day is will we be able to have much court time, or will we have to fight out the crowds? Frisbee golf sounds like a lot of fun too. I haven't done that since I was 7. B
Who says it has to be Memorial Day? I suggested Memorial Day weekend. I think the pool opens on Friday that weekend. I'd prefer Saturday. I'm sure there would be a lot of schedule conflicts on Memorial Day. btw: Draft Day turns out to be a Wednesday. Screw that. Any weekend with an NBA Finals game would be great, too. Game time is usually late afternoon, correct?
Okay, Saturday on Memorial Day weekend sounds good to me. That would be May 25th. And maybe we could try having a smaller gathering on April 13th (Saturday) and play just for fun. Also, do we want to try to get a big CC group for the last home game of the season? It's Sunday, April 14th against Memphis at 7:30. I'm just trying to throw some ideas out there. Thanks for any feedback. Crispee/HeyP, how much is disc golf? Is the place open for anyone on the basketball courts? Gutter Snipe, what are the details about the indoor courts you mentioned? Maybe we could try to play there on April 13th. B
cool, im actually going down to houston apr10-14 to help sell my dads house...and boy oh boy do i love disc golf, bball too. i used to play everyday sometimes twice a day in austin before i moved to seattle. ive played a couple courses here but the weather hasnt been good enough to play yet... id rather play ont he 13th than th 14th...
Memorial Day is BAD...park'll be crowded (& I have other plans). Couldn't we do it on a regular weekend? Just my (self-serving) opinion...
Any weekend other than Memorial Day is OK w/ me. But if the majority want to do it M.D. weekend, don't let me stop you.
I'm always interested in playin ball, esp if CP is involved. Of course, everything has to fall into place just right for me to drive 6 hours up there, so the best I can give is a maybe, esp if it's on Memorial Day weekend. I'd prefer indoor, but really just anywhere that doesn't attract too many people is fine. Depending on how many CCneters are actually brave enough to show up that is.
I'm okay at baskeball. I wanna play baseball. If we can get together 15-20 we can play baseball after some baskeball?
I think you could pretty much rule me out on any baseball discussions. I hit and throw like a girl. No offense to the girls that can actually play. I could play a little football, but, eh. Basketball is where its at.
Well I'm no Tony Eusebio, but I'm not that bad either. I love playing defense in the outfield. I dont have a lot of speed, but I will NOT drop a ball anywhere close to my vicinity. I love football too though. I am down for anything. I do prefer baseball, football and tennis over basketball though.
Man ****, count me in. Aren't you guys like 30 year old yahoos or something? I am going to show my dunking abilities at five feet 8 inches. wait wait. five feet, eight AND A HALF inches. I haven't played ball in like a year and a half, but I can fill i can run still. Somewhere in Northwest Houston would be good. I know this place in the River Oaks area off w. gray. It's an indoor place. I don't know if we can play though. It's by shepard and w. gray, near the Kroger, an TJ Maxx. Okay, I can almost dunk the ball. Just watch out for my Eddie Griffin Like block shot abilities. Ask Nina Norman, that McDonalds all american kid.
