I would not switch to direct tv if it was $500 off my first bill. Well at least broadband is available.

I had NBALP in Dallas with DirectTV. Totally a worthwhile reason to switch carriers. I'm in NYC these days and am itching to switch from RCN because they don't carry NBA TV... I need all the games!

    UPDATES on dish's NBA LP.

Clearly, they are not going to get the negotiation done in near future. I was informed by an account specialist from dish that they are still negotiating with NBA. I don't know whether it's true or not.

Since the free view will end very soon, there are a couple solutions for all rox fans to choose.

    1) Switch over to other service providers, I prefer Directv (btw now I have dish not directv). It has tons of channels being dedicated to NBA LP. you won't miss any games.

    2) If some fans have to pay cancallation fee to stop dish service, here is another solution for you. Call dish and ask to be transfered to an account specialist. Tell he/her you want to stay with dish and subscribe NBA LP Broadband to handle the situation but you still want to subscribe NBA LP through them whenever it is available on dish. In this case you might end up with paying extra $90 (NBA LP Broadband subscription fee). According to my experience, they will give $20 credit/per month up to 5 months. It is good enough to cover the cost to subscribe the LP Broadband. I did it hour ago.

    Good luck

they will tell how much you need to pay. to your case, you might pay nothing. in this case, you are free to move to other service providers.

so i called dish i have no contract so i have no cancel fees! :)

signed up for directv should have my service come next friday

    best part is?

    50 dollar referral credit
and 75 dollars on 3 months free hbo and showtime (2 networks my roomates and I would subscribe to anyway)

that means LP would be 44 dollars for me this year.

    cool

I'm definitely screwed because I just signed up for a 2 year agreement when I went to HD programming with DVR. I absolutely love the setup, and was pretty stoked about the NBA season, but obviously the whole process has a black eye now.

I did the exact same thing. Signed a 2 year contract just last week expecting no problem with league pass, they even told me they would have it it was just a matter of negotiating the price. Not only that but its advertised all over their website and on the tv. I am going to go ape***** on them until they release me from my contract free of charge. False f'in advertising, and I told them I was only signing up with them if they offered NBA LP, which they said they did. I am freakin pissed........

i don't think they are going to have LP this season.

for all fans who just signed a contract with dish, you might have to do like i did to get some kind of compensation (see my ealier post).

i am not against bugging dish to release you from your contract w/o paying anything. at same time, you have to find a way to watch rox games. my solution is best in the case you don't want to pay extra money.

there is a link where new customers if they put in a friend's account number (w/ directv) will get 50 dollars off their first bill, both the referrer and referee get 50 dollars off.

if you are thinking of signing up shoot me an email through the bbs i'll refer you and we both win! :)
