If we're talking about thrusting new school players into the old school (time machine style) then yeah most of these guys would have some trouble. If you're talking about no hand checking in today's game then i think it would kill some stars and help others. I think Kobe would still be one of the better players but Wade wouldn't be able to zip by his man and slam into a big everytime down the court.
Watching those defenders, there were full of "hand checking", "tough screens" or "physical traps", yet they tried in vain to knock him out. He would easily average 45+ a game on 60%+(pm/a) shootings if he was born 20 years later to play under today's NBA rules! Sometimes I wish I were older enough to witness his career... also too pity I was not getting to understand basketball much deeper as art until his late career. It's always big enjoyment to review those vids tapes in his primary years. If there was a lord ever existing in The Basketball Hall, it was Michael Jordan!
yes, too bad there are no youtube videos of when Maxwell guarded Jordan one on one and smothered him on defense while Dream and company dominated the Bulls. Shows that the Rockets teams of the 90s were that awesome.
Yeah, two champions in a row is a fact and I know this is a Rockets Forum. But Jordan's Bulls dominated in 90s, no question.
they didn't dominate the Rockets in the 90s you want to debate me on this? i have facts the previous poster posted that clip when Michael was wearing #45 to show that he was in top shape when he lost in 1995. And contrary to the excuse that people love to make that he was 'out of shape', they lost the series cause their front line was getting killed by Shaq. They addressed that issue by getting Rodman the next year to shore up the boards.
man i know how u guys feel. i grew up watching nba in the very early 90's. i watched mj vs magic live. my fave player was pippen. he was most underrated player on the team. the guy took the bulls to the playoffs, and had a 54 win season without jordan. also was all start mvp that year. even t-mac said the bulls would be lucky to win one championship without pip. but it was the hype surrounding mj that really made people think he was a basketbal god. same thing with lebron, melo, wade, etc. as much as i am a rockets fan, i think the bulls may have edged the rockets in a series back then. either way, rockets better beat some *ss this year!!!
I have to disagree about MJ, he might have been over height, but he was one of the greatest players ever in any sport. Just look at what the other greats, like Russell, Magic, Bird, and Isiah Thomas had to say about him. They're aren't any players today that come remotely close to him, the other MJ, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, OR, and etc.
" i have facts", ok, since you claim to be witness, am much willing to know more about it... but wan't Jordan once left the NBA to play baseball in 93-94, not returned until 95 to continue bull's "encore three-peat"?
Forgot how good Jordan was. Everything was fluid with no wasted energy. Made it look way too easy. And yea the Rockets woulda beat the Bulls in 94 and 95. Haters say otherwise.
Jordan won three with Grant and three with Rodman at the 4 spot. He won none without either one of those guys. Ironically, the Rockets series against the Spurs when Rodman took off his shoes and such was probably the catalyst for SA trading him to the Bulls.
Dude, you can't be a Rockets fan and a Pippen fan at the same time. It's like wearing Karl Malone jersey in the Toyota Center.
The Rockets were 5-1 against the bulls in their head to head matchups during the first threepeat. There's really no evidence to indicate that the Bulls would have beaten the Rockets in the Finals had MJ advanced in '95.
Pretty silly comment. He wasn't overhyped one bit. The fact that the Rockets probably would have beaten them in '95 is a separate discussion and doesn't change the fact that MJ was the greatest ever.
jordan was a great scoring machine no doubting that he would have easily been able to hit 35-40ppg in today's nba if given the freedom in an offense. I think Dream would be an even bigger monster though in today's NBA even with the zone rules. 30/16/5 too little center competition. Dream would have chased Okur on the perimeter and then came back to block Boozer's shot in the paint. Damn I miss watching him play.
I think you need to put your helmet back on and go play outside. Leave this thread to people that actually understand the game of basketball and witnessed MJ in his prime. The fact that people think Kobe is better is the funniest thing ever
Please go to basketball-reference.com and look up MJ's 1995 playoff stats. Probably one of his finest playoff performances ever. They lost to Orlando, who we SWEPT. End of discussion.
